Koniag Technology Solutions, a Koniag Government Services Company, is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Coordinator – Level 2 with an active Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance to support KTS and our government Customer in Arlington, VA. This position is primarily virtual with a hybrid working location in Arlington, VA.

The successful candidate will provide substantive support to the Strategic Communications Government Lead of the Hosting and Compute (HaC) in the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) in the Department of Defense and assist the DoD client by creating visuals and providing management of organizational social media platforms, content uploads, and communication engagement tracking to help the organization achieve its goals. 
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Formulate branding and messaging plans and products for the HaC with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and concisely conveying information with the intended audience in mind.
  • Develop templates, samples, and public relations materials consistent with the approved HaC brand.
  • Ensure plans and products have approved and consistent messaging for internal and external audiences.
  • Update branding and messaging plans and products with approved messaging for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop clear and concise talking points for HaC leaders to brief at internal and external events.
  • Facilitate engagements, events, and working groups with both internal and external audiences. This may include organizations across the DoD and other Federal agencies, Congress, the White House, and the media.
  • Provide recommended draft responses to media inquiries, media interviews, and articles for public media with compelling and clear messaging that is appropriate for the targeted audience. This will require working with DoD public affairs staff and coordination with senior leadership.
  • Prepare documentation for meetings with, and responses to inquiries from, organizations across DoD, other Federal agencies, Congress, White House, and the media. 
  • Create and disseminate to HaC personnel a compilation of relevant media articles and conferences/events for situational awareness. 
  • Create a historical archive of all internal and external messaging to ensure consistency in HaC messaging. 
  • Create communications materials for internal (DoD) and external outreach to include briefings, multimedia, fact sheets, brochures, and other materials as needed. 
  • Facilitate review of any public affairs and communications documentation, organize and adjudicate feedback, and make updates to documentation as approved by the HaC.
  • Ensure the HaC website content is consistent with branding products and overall messaging.
  • Review all HaC documentation for consistency and clarity.
  • Perform technical writing/editing, editorial consultation, proofreading, and overall documentation review. 
  • Ensure documents are prepared in the appropriate format and are free from grammatical errors.
  • Facilitate focus groups of end users in coordination with User Experience to assess the quality of services and identify methods of improvement.
  • Provide senior visual designer support to develop a cohesive design direction for the HaC that represents our brand, our guiding principles, our culture of high-quality work and captures the ethos of the team. The work shall encompass creating, standardizing, and management of HaC's entire ecosystem of branding efforts.
  • Provide standard design assets, brand guides, and creative design direction (e.g., logos, nomenclature) in formats prescribed by the HaC. Implementation of the developed design standards to create visual design for the web, social media, presentations on other design assets is required. Various web design platforms (including the U.S. Web Design System) are required to support the overall design direction of HaC.
  • Provide visual communications (storytelling) using animated platforms, graphic design, infographic content, and video content is required on websites and social media platforms. The purpose of visual storytelling is to meet the HaC communication goals by telling the HaC's story of our unique and highly creative brand. This will result in maximum delivery of the HaC mission objectives to multiple media environments and enhance the HaC brand effectiveness.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide content for multiple websites to provide outreach and inform potential users of the JWCC and other Program capabilities.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, public perception, and stakeholder expectations. Use the findings to inform strategic communications planning and messaging.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to enhance the organization's online presence, engage with the target audience, and disseminate key messages effectively.
  • Coordinate and support crisis communication efforts, including developing communication plans and response strategies in the event of emergencies, incidents, or reputation-threatening situations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and subject matter experts to gather information, identify key messages, and ensure accuracy and consistency in communication materials.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives, using metrics and feedback to make data-driven improvements and adjustments as needed.
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have at least 2-3 years related experience in Design and/or Strategic Communications.
  • Must be a US Citizen and hold a current DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain and hold a DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and note taking skills.
  • Proficient with a suite of applications including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Google Docs.
  • Familiar with Mac OS platforms.
  • Self-motivated and willingness to work both independently (with direction) and with a team.
  • Problem-solving skills – including the ability to develop solutions in new and creative ways.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to speak with confidence and energy in public, in person, over the phone, and with senior executives when necessary.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
