Job Description: Project Manager – RIS/PACS

Job Description:

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for delivering quality service and solutions to customers by understanding their needs and effectively managing RIS/PACS informatics software implementation/upgrade projects. This position provides leadership and support to Implementation Services project teams, PMO management and leadership teams by monitoring project plans, aligning resources, and seeing projects through successful completions. This position also assists with overseeing best practices in managing interrelated project and programs to ensure successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities of the Project Manager:

  • Define/develop rollout plans and oversees execution according to best practices
  • Maintain transparent visibility of project status, issues, direction, decisions, etc., establishing themselves as a trusted adviser to the business
  • Come up with solution options to project issues/challenges (w/o waiting on direction) and always puts forward a recommendation with clear supporting business justification
  • Understand the technologies used for solution and is able to discuss technical solution at a high level
  • Provide clear and concise communications at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to coordinate efforts between large groups of individuals; negotiate and resolve conflicts, and forecast project statuses
  • Facilitate meetings with all levels of the company, clearly articulating objectives, keeping people focused and walking out with identified action items and next steps
  • Communicate technical issues to non-technical groups effectively
  • Maintains a positive outlook with an optimistic and professional attitude at all times
  • Keep management, team members and business stakeholders informed of critical issues, project status, changes, etc. on a consistent basis
  • Lead and conduct formal lessons learned exercise (post go-live)
  • Monitor and control third-party contractors, vendors, and internal staff from multiple areas within and outside the organization
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary (less than 20% travel is expected)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information technology, Healthcare Life Science, or equivalent
  • Required, 2-5 years of project management experience at a minimum
  • Required, Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any online Project Management tool such as MS Project
  • Required, a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in either or both
    • Information technology environment
    • Healthcare (RIS/EMR and PACS)
  • Preferred, Knowledge of and experience in HL7 and/or DICOM integration methods and interface engines
  • Preferred, Formal Project Management training (academic or professional)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly and openly communicate status, issues/risks, and challenges presented to project, as well as ability to create clear and concise presentations
  • Ability to produce executive-level status reporting
