Overview

With headquarters in New York and Dallas, HLG is currently seeking a Paralegal Licensing traditional transactional law firm or related practical experience associated with the procurement and management of property licenses and permits. This role is geographically flexible with hybrid to full remote opportunities. The candidate will provide support to the firm’s partners in a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the analysis of legal documents and research.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for managing the permits and licensing needs for hotel properties and related food and beverage establishments. The role will require the candidate to engage with hotel properties across a broad geographical region in connection with a variety of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, tracking and managing all aspects of the application and renewal processes for hotel liquor licenses and operating permits, which includes preparing, reviewing and/or filing applications, arranging associated fee payments, and coordinating with government agencies and application signatories.
  • Maintaining centralized records for all such licenses/permits and compiling pertinent information about them to ensure proactive steps are taken for timely renewals.
  • Coordinating with corporate leaders and hotel teams on licensing and permitting matters for new hotel acquisitions or conversions, or for new offerings/construction that impacts existing licensure.
  • Supervising vendors who provide licensing-related services.
  • Overseeing and maintaining registration/licensure for hotel vehicles like shuttle vans.
  • Developing and participating in training modules on licensure procedures.
  • Collaborating on initiatives to improve organization and efficiency in storage and management of licenses and other company documents.
  • Such other activities that may arise and that may be necessary or helpful in managing the company’s legal and licensing matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate.
  • Minimum of four to seven years’ experience in a law firm or in-house law department setting, or comparable government organization.
  • Experience with Avalara and Bluebonnet Consulting Inc. preferred but not required.
  • Extensive experience with Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe and document management software.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent proofreading and communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a high-pressure, high-volume environment, with an ability to juggle multiple assignments, concurrent deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently to produce high quality work product.
  • 1000 annual billable hour requirement.

Salary range : $80,000 to $100,000 per annum benefits and bonus.
