Summary

• The CAD/BIM Technician III is an upper-level position. At this level, the CAD/BIM Technician III can preliminarily scope out a project, prepare base concept plans, sections, and schedules with minimal instruction. The CAD/BIM Technician III has limited knowledge of Architectural Codes and Concepts and can assist in performing plan layouts for ADA elements, egress requirements, and space planning.
• The CAD/BIM Technician III will work with Design Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other CAD Technicians to manage and create all drafted / modeled documentation and drawings associated with projects. The documentation and drawings will primarily be created using Revit or AutoCAD, and the scope of the job will span all elements of the project inclusive of assisting design team in gathering the project requirements, preliminary and final design / drafting, proper filing and management of drawings, printing, plotting uploading, and recording record drawings of projects.

Responsibilities

CAD/BIM Operation/Drafting

• Prepare design drawings, and details, from sketches, concepts or mark-ups provided by Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer. Draw and plot drawings to scale, as required.
• Work under the direction of the Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer to design complex project drawings, construction documents, routine design layouts, life safety plans and detailed drawings showing owner furnished equipment.
• Develop site, floor plans, door, window, room finish schedules and be able to cut sections and details to indicate changes in construction or materials affecting the project. Support preparation of requests for bids for estimating and project managers, as directed.
• Create, markup, and make changes to existing PDF documents using Adobe, Blue Beam, or similar electronic project management software to keep projects current.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, in-house seminars and presentations and reviewing relevant technical publications.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist engineering and project management staff with day-to-day project functions, as needed, including researching product specifications, contacting vendors, and other support functions as needed.
• Understanding of HP plotter software and management of system.
• Work as part of a collaborative team to balance workloads and ensure quality deliverables are produced on time.
• Work with design team to perform cross check or peer review of projects for compliance with project criteria (Pre-Construction Issue).
• Adhere to Forcum Lannom Contractors practices, policies, and procedures for document revision control.
• Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

• Proficiency in AutoCad and Revit
• Strong understanding of civil, architectural, structural design fundamentals and practices.
• Knowledge of construction industry, engineering principles, general math, trigonometry, geometry, and construction materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (spelling grammar and clarity of communication).
• Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Education Required:

• Associate degree in Drafting Technology. Drafting certificate from accredited technology school or equivalent work experience.
• Performing the duties of CAD/BIM Technician Level II for minimum of 3 years.

• Report to Engineering Manager through Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer.
