Fresno American Indian Health Project is Hiring a Senior Staff Accountant/Grant Accountant Near Fresno, CA

The Senior Staff Accountant-Grant Accountant is responsible for all the accounting cycle tasks – general ledger, accounts receivable, payroll, and preparation of grant and corporate financial reports. Prepares monthly financial statements, and pre and post award grant reporting. Prepares grant budget and corporate budgets. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with funder’s administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, A-133 Audit, and order closure of projects. The ideal candidate would have experience working with smaller non-profit organizations and at a minimum, have some medical, grant financial management, or other project accounting experience.

Essential Duties, functions & Responsibilities

· Process payroll and related reporting.

· Oversees preparing of annual corporate Federal and State income tax returns and CT-2.

· Prepares grant monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.

· Assist with the preparation of asset and depreciation schedules.

· Assists with the preparation and monitoring of the master budget.

· Prepares and submits grant invoices under the oversight of the finance manager.

· Assist with monitoring/tracking each grant program's status through its life cycle.

· Work with grant managers and advise the finance manager on preparing grant budgets and proposals. Once awarded, monitor expenses for allowable uses of grant funds.

· Prepare budget to actual grant spending reports.

· Assist in the preparation of monthly report packages.

· Assist with annual audits.

· Prepare year end schedules and other data requested by auditors.

· Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reconciliation of accounts.

· Keeps the Finance Manager well informed of department needs, progress, and planning.

· Other duties as assigned or required to fulfill the purpose of the position

· Adheres to agency policies and procedures and advances the goals of FAIHP in a manner that embodies the agency’s philosophy

· Maintains strict confidentiality of client and personnel information, adhering to HIPAA, professional codes of conduct, State of CA regulations, Privacy Act, and FAIHP policies and procedures

MANDATORY qualifications, skills, knowledge, qualities & prior experience required

· Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.

· Required 3 or more years of accounting experience, with a minimum of two years in a nonprofit or government setting, with nonprofit and grant experience preferred.

· Required knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

· Required knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Public Law 93-638)

· Financial Software experience, tech savvy.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the ability to reconcile large transactional files (pivot tables experience preferred)

· Experience working with the American Indian/Alaska Native community

· Ability to prepare complex and complete financial reports.

· Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve complex problems.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

· A valid California Driver’s license and DMV report with fewer than 2 infraction points within a 12-month period, as well as automobile insurance.
