Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1:00pm-7pm (30 hours weekly with additional hours not to exceed 65)
Summer hours: 8 am - 4 pm for 5-week summer program
Reports To: Program Manager
Primary Function: The Program Assistant will assist in planning, implementing, and supervising all curricula and activities. Core areas of curricula and activities consist of Education, Counseling, STEM (science, Technology, Engineering and Math), the Arts, Health, and Social Awareness, and Community Service.
Program Description: The Future Foundation After-School Program is a safe-haven where underserved children receive the foundation, skills, and support to shape promising, triumphant futures. We strive to engage the imagination and energy of youth with the goal of helping them maximize their potential. The high school serves grades 9th – 12th. The middle schools serve 6th – 8th grades. While academic tutoring and mentoring are key components; youth also participate in STEM, physical fitness, dance, culinary art, arts, etc.
Expectations and Measurements: Required goals and objectives as described in detail from the approved grant per the site:
I. Academic: Ensure improvements in grades (math and English language arts); pass all State assessments
II. Enriching the Whole Child: Improvements in decreasing risky behavior and character education
III. Parent/Family Involvement: Develop and lead various workshops and trainings.
IV. Attendance: Meet/Exceed the number of regularly attending students (“30-day”) per grant metrics. Track, monitor and input data on ADA (average daily attendance)
V. Recruitment: Assist with the entire recruitment process for one’s specific site.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with Future Foundation’s standards and goals.
· Ensure that programs, services, and activities prepare youth for success, always promoting safety of participants and quality in programs.
· Contribute to the planning and implementation of program activities by:
a. Developing weekly program schedules and monthly program calendars
b. Developing age-appropriate bulletin boards throughout center
· Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising participants in program areas.
· Manage and ensure a productive work environment by maintaining an inventory of all program equipment.
· Manage administrative systems by registering new participants; maintain daily attendance and visitor logs.
· Communicate with parents and local schools on a regular basis regarding participants’ progress.
· Increase visibility of Future Foundation with the dissemination of timely information for marketing purposes.
· Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
● BA/BS degree in related field/with at least three years related work experience
● At least 25 years of age with knowledge of youth development
● Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
● Ability to organize and supervise participants in a safe environment
● Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
● Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate
● Strong math, language, art, oral and written communication skills
● Demonstrated skills operating PC computer systems
● Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications and Mandated Reporter (class provided if certification needed)
● Valid State Driver’s License (must have a clean driving record, no DUIs, no speeding tickets, etc.)
● Must pass background check (Federal and State)
