Job Title: Head Start Early Head Start Education Coach Specialist Last Update: 2023
Reports To: Head Start/Early Head Start Education Director Drug Free Workplace
Position Purpose
This position will provide on-site coaching for staff using a Practice Based Coaching (PBC) Model in accordance with Federal Head Start Performance Standards and local, state and/or agency policies and procedures. Will conduct classroom observations, aggregate data and provide coaching for staff to improve teacher practices, teacher-child interactions and child outcomes towards school readiness.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Internal Responsibilities
1. Administer the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) three times a year; collect and aggregate data.
2. Administer Coaching to Fidelity to designated classrooms, collect and aggregate data.
3. Create effective coaching plans with teaching staff.
4. Assist with the collection, monitoring, assessing, and analyzing of child progress data, under the direction of the Education Director.
5. Conduct regular classroom observations.
6. Provide constructive feedback.
7. Provide one-on-one reflective meeting to provide strategies for improving teacher-child
Interactions and teacher practices.
8. Conduct small group meetings for teaching staff to discuss appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, the ongoing assessment process, and how to individualize curriculum.
9. Provide informal learning opportunities for teachers to reflect on and apply theory and learning to everyday practice.
10. Maintain current knowledge of the program’s curriculum and operational procedures related to early care and education and ensure implementation.
11. Coordinate and develops Best Practice processes for implementation.
12. Maintain documentation of all services provided and reports submitted.
13. Oversees disciplinary policy, EOA Handbook Policies and Procedures, and Work Plans for staff.
14. Provides orientation to newly hired teaching staff on their responsibilities and program philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Training
1. Coordinate and/or facilitate training for education staff.
2. Attend and/or conduct all required meetings, pre-service, in-service, and other training as directed; locally and nationally.
3. Utilize training to enhance job performance.
Compliance and Monitoring
1. Monitor CLASS scores and develop action plans as needed.
2. Participate in the planning and implementation of the annual self-assessment process.
Organizational Planning/ Supervision
1. Provide assistance and consultation to assure that written policies and procedures are kept current.
2. Attend interagency, organizational and committee meetings as appropriate.
3. Supervise/Manage staff as needed.
Other Job Responsibilities
1. Perform other duties as assigned withing the scope of the job.
2. Able to multitask and complete assignments in a timely manner.
3. Maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude with staff, clients, and stakeholders at all times.
