Dayton Society of Natural History is Hiring a Maintenance Manager Near Dayton, OH

Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Department: Facilities Department
Reports To: Director of Facilities/CFO
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000

Summary:

Assists, coordinates, and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides assistance to the Director of Facilities or CFO in maintenance of buildings, landscaping, parking areas, equipment, and machinery.
  • Assists with compliance and planning of all safety trainings to ensure safety standards and other regulatory standards are met.
  • Helps to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe practices.
  • Assists with routine repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work among other skills.
  • Operates snow/ice removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Assist with lawn maintenance by mowing grass, trimming weeds, and plow gardens on the organization’s property.
  • Maintain vehicles and grounds equipment (tractors and lawn mowers, weed trimmers, garden tools, etc), maintain and fill in maintenance schedules as needed.
  • Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
  • Operates forklift to move heavy items.
  • Cuts down and removes trees.
  • Backup for housekeeping as needed.
  • Assist with exhibition repair and maintenance as needed.
  • Completes opening and closing of building.
  • Inventory supplies, equipment, and tools. Order materials as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with all other departments including clear communications and quick response times.
  • Assist with emergency situations including after hours, may require being on-call.
  • Meet outside vendors for scheduled and drop-by maintenance services as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages Maintenance, and Grounds keeping teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and managing work assignments; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and adhere to reasonable deadlines as needed to complete projects.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of building maintenance, machinery, plumbing, electrical, HVAC.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
