Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,... is Hiring a Director of Respiratory Therapy Near Douglasville, GA

Director of Respiratory Therapy duties include but are not limited to: (1) obtaining and analyzing physiological specimens; (2) interpreting physiological data; (3) performing tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system; (4) performing patient assessments (5) follow the rules put forward by the infection control committee to avoid re-hospitalization and/or other health issues due to infection Therapeutic modalities includes but is not limited to application and monitoring of: (1) medical gases and environmental control systems; (2) mechanical ventilatory support; (3) artificial airway care; (4) bronchopulmonary hygiene; (5) pharmacological agents; (6) cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

DUTIES

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Care of mechanically ventilated patients to include monitoring of such patients in accordance with policy and procedures, performing tracheostomy care and the provision of respiratory treatment modalities that are ordered by a Physician. This may also include the transport of mechanically ventilated patients in the facility.

2.Care of non-ventilated patients with tracheostomy tubes to include monitoring of such patients in accordance with policy and procedures, performing tracheostomy care and the provision of respiratory treatment modalities that are ordered by a Physician.

3.Care of patients who are on PAP (Positive Airway Pressure) modalities such as CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) and BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) units to include monitoring of such patients in accordance with policy and procedures and the provision of respiratory treatment modalities that are ordered by a Physician.

4.Care of patients who require the provision of respiratory treatment modalities in accordance with policy and procedures that are ordered by a Physician.

5.Performance of diagnostic testing that may include Arterial Blood Gasses, Spirometry Testing, Pulse Oximetry, End Tidal CO2 Monitoring and other diagnostic modalities in accordance with policy and procedures that are ordered by a Physician.

6.Performance of patient evaluations by facility request that may include pre-scheduled monthly evaluations, new patient admission evaluations to assess appropriate respiratory care treatment plan and/or assessment of a current patient due to a change in condition. All patient evaluations will be documented in accordance with policy and procedure and discussed with the patients nurse and/or facility designate.

7.Ensure the focus of patient and family education activities is to promote knowledge and management of disease process, medical therapy and self-help. Public education activities focus on the promotion of cardiopulmonary wellness.

8.Perform other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:

1.The Director of Respiratory shall hold a valid license and credential in accordance with the state and national standard.

2.The Director of Respiratory who provide respiratory care services shall demonstrate their ability to meet the educational and experience requirements for the safe delivery of respiratory care services in accordance with current state and federal agency guidelines.

3.Must possess strong knowledge regarding state, federal and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care.

4.Must meet health assessment requirements.

5.Must be capable of performing the essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

6.Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
