Qualifications: A successful candidate for this position will possess a strong understanding of highly effective instructionalpractices in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with a preference for elementaryteaching experience. Candidates must hold a valid license as an elementary teacher (K-6 or K-8) or a statementof eligibility in this area. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic supporter of hands-on, project-based learning.Prior experience with programs such as Project Lead the Way is an asset.Overview: The elementary STEM teacher will be assigned to provide instruction and assessment to students in grades K4, as part of the schools unified arts team. A primary responsibility of this position will be to design and/orimplement highly engaging instructional activities that call upon students to think critically, analyze situations,and develop effective problem-solving strategies.
STEM education emphasizes the foundational principles ofmathematics and science through interactive and engaging activities. An additional expectation of the positionis to introduce STEM-related fields to students at the elementary level as a means of supporting continuedSTEM learning in the future. The major responsibilities of this position include: Teaching STEM classes to students in grades K-4, Ensuring that NH Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) standards are being metthrough instructional activities, Facilitating the student development of ICT portfolios, Reinforcing essential technology skills such as keyboarding, Developing and implementing highly engaging activities related to STEM learning, Assessing students and providing timely feedback to students and families about student learning, Encouraging a growth mindset in students by emphasizing that intelligence and abilities can bedeveloped through effort and perseverance, Collaborating with other STEM teachers to share and learn about best practices, and Incorporating teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills into instructional activities
