Started in 2014 by Melissa Tashjian, Compost Crusader is a locally owned business with the mission of creating a culture around sustainability. Compost Crusader partners with residential and commercial locations to divert organic material from the landfill in an economically and environmentally sustainable way.

We are a young, rapidly growing business, looking to hire employees who are passionate about composting, who have a strong desire to grow within the company and who don’t mind working hard and getting dirty!

Position Summary

This is a hands-on position, assisting with the planning & execution of various tasks. The ideal candidate will have computer skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency. Forklift certification and previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Essential functions

• Demonstrate safe workplace practices, including regular use of PPE when required
• Maintain cleanliness organization of shop, office, and vehicles
• Clean, repair, and assemble carts to maintain supply levels
• Track maintain parts inventory, identify dead stock for liquidation
• Report vehicle defects, make small repairs
• Maintain proper fluid levels and apply grease to vehicles on a regular schedule
• Provide guidance and training to general laborers
• Interact with customers and vendors in a timely fashion
• Safe driving record willing/able to fill in for drivers

Required education and qualifications

• Professional demeanor and well-groomed appearance
• Willingness to get dirty and work outdoors
• Ability to lift heavy items (100 lbs minimum)
• Must be the age of 18 or older
• High school diploma, GED, or HSED
• Reliable, on-time transportation
• Valid Wisconsin drivers license with clean driving record
