POSITION SUMMARY:

The GIS Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing GIS applications and software solutions that support the analysis and visualization of geospatial web maps designed individually for CNS clients. This position may also be responsible to provide employee and client training on the ESRI and related platforms to ensure accuracy and efficiency of records while using the platform to its fullest potential with regards to record-keeping, marketing, and operational functionality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the GIS and Design Manager and the GIS Development Supervisor of CNS in an effective, efficient, and economical manner. Meeting and exceeding project timelines is imperative to the success of this position.

Successful completion of essential responsibilities builds growth for CNS while protecting the company, growing revenues, ensuring quality of staff and services, and provides efficient operations for future stability.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Designs and develops GIS applications and software solutions that support the collection, analysis, and visualization of fiber optic networks.
  • Customizes GIS tools, creates GIS databases, and develops web-based GIS applications for CNS client needs
  • Integrates geospatial data and systems with other data sources such as billing, environmental, customer, and marketing data depending on client needs.
  • Ability to create, maintain and train in database design and data modeling.
  • Creates maps and visualizations that allow users to interact with geospatial data in meaningful and customized ways. Includes building custom dashboards and creating interactive reports.
  • Troubleshoots GIS applications to ensure quality control is maintained and systems are functioning properly. Addresses any issues in an efficient manner.
  • Works collaboratively with other GIS and engineering personnel as well as clients and their affiliates to ensure that projects meet business requirements.
  • Perform basic and advanced coding and integration tasks using ESRI / ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Python API, and custom JavaScript Applications.
  • Configure and maintain maps and applications using ESRI ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, Survey 123, and other map-based functions.
  • Document tools, processes, and procedures related to GIS data management and analysis work.
  • Build and enhance JavaScript web map applications.
  • Create processes and tools for mobile use of GIS for data collection and consumption.
  • Provides technical explanations and educates internal and external contacts in a way that they understand.
  • Manage and maintain multiple datasets, GIS software, SQL server, Windows virtual server systems, and Linux server systems.
  • Ability to learn PostgreSQL and backup the lead GIS database administrator.
  • Develop content and implement training documentation and programs tailored to end users.
  • Understanding and ability to manage multi-tiered full stack software applications (web, databases, middleware, and others).
  • Interface and coordinate workflow directly with internal and external departments, vendors, and organizations.
  • Develop, review, interpret, and utilize established client standards to practical situations.
  • Manage multiple projects for clients simultaneously, achieving project goals, timeline, and reporting.
  • Manage and maintain system functionality.
  • Promote CNS owner member’s interest in GIS for purpose of advancing revenue.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and tasks are accurately completed to ensure highest level of client relationships.
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Land Surveying, GIS, Civil Engineering, or equivalent work
  • Five or more years of ESRI /
  • Three or more years’ experience in geodatabase data management, database development, and implementation of ArcGIS Server, PostgreSQL, and SQL
  • Five or more years with installing, designing, and implementing features into the ESRI / ArcGIS platform (Pro 3.x ).
  • Three or more years with installing, designing, and implementing features into ESRI / ArcGIS
  • Three or more years Python development required
  • Three or more years of JavaScript experience
  • Three or more years’ experience in system and database performance
  • Three or more years in a consulting or equivalent role preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Primarily general office environment with infrequent travel in all types of weather conditions, required.
