Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Horticulturist to join our team. As a Horticulturist, you will be responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs in various settings such as gardens, farms, greenhouses, and landscapes. Your expertise in horticulture will contribute to creating beautiful and thriving outdoor spaces.
Duties:
- Plan and execute the planting, watering, fertilizing, and pruning of plants
- Monitor plant health and identify and treat diseases or pests
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants
- Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment for landscaping and groundskeeping tasks
- Collaborate with landscape architects to design and implement garden layouts
- Assist in the selection of appropriate plant species for specific environments
- Conduct research on new horticultural techniques and technologies
- Provide guidance and training to other team members on horticultural practices
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Horticulturist or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of plant species, cultivation techniques, and pest management
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment for horticultural tasks
- Strong understanding of irrigation systems and their maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address plant health issues effectively
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various outdoor environments
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Degree in Horticulture or related field is preferred
