Guidance Product Owner

Summary

This role is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a mission-based team in an organization dedicated to increasing philanthropic giving through donor advised funds. As the Guidance Product Owner, you will lead the strategic vision and roadmap for a product or products within a specific business area, demonstrating a deep understanding of the product(s). Products may have enterprise-wide implications. Also leads efforts to identify opportunities for changes to approaches, processes and business models that enhance their competitiveness in the DAF marketplaces and drive transformative growth.

Responsibilities

· Leads product management activities for multiple products, or one strategic product related to their differentiated offer with a focus on Guidance.

· In collaboration with leaders and key stakeholders, creates and maintains a product business canvas, product roadmap, and product backlog for all products under management.

· Collaborates with cross-functional teams to create best practices that drive significant change to the client experience to support growth, retention, and loyalty.

· Coaches other growth-focus product owners towards best practices and learnings. Ensures delivery of messaging, communication, and client outreach, as necessary.

· Participates in technology development of the product and assesses and makes decisions about product direction and trade-offs to ensure on-time and in-scope delivery.

· Partners with stakeholders to resolve production and implementation issues in a timely manner and supports/drives escalations where required to enable rapid delivery.

· Incorporates direct experimentation and client research throughout the product development lifecycle.

· Iterates on existing products based on data and evidence collected throughout the product lifecycle.

· Works collaboratively with the data science teams to ensure that data logics and structures within products adhere to best practices, ethics, and privacy policies, and will deliver the intended value to clients.

· Ensures leaders and business stakeholders are informed, aligned, and fully participate throughout each stage of the innovation process. Develops and executes effective communication strategies and feedback loop mechanisms. Captures and shares learnings, insights, and best practices with project and stakeholder teams. Supports efforts to keep the senior management team informed of key industry, competitive, and product development trends.

· Conducts efficient and thorough research and analysis of strategic, competitive, and product/service development issues confronting the organization.

· Leads or participates in discussions and projects pertaining to key business issues/opportunities, particularly in the area of competitive, market, and regulatory changes, as well as opportunities to leverage new technologies for innovation.

· In addition to project-managing ideas formed in a collaborative environment, the Guidance Product Owner will also be responsible for individually creating a backlog of ideas

· Develops and maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, content creators and subject domain experts. Creatively applies the knowledge gained from these contacts to improve our strategic approach

· Ensures steps are taken to proactively include risk/control, compliance, legal, IT, and other critical dependency groups. Coordinates with key partners to address gaps while evaluating and recommending necessary changes. Ensures control requirements are met while maintaining nimbleness in a test and learn environment.

· Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Eight or more years' work experience, including 3 years of leading large cross-functional/ cross-site teams on major strategic/technical projects. Experience working in financial services or philanthropic sector preferred. Product owner certification is a plus.

· Demonstrated motivation, initiative, judgment, critical thinking, and analytic skills, with the ability to work across multiple functions, lead diverse perspectives and deals effectively with ambiguity and adaptation to change.

· Experience creating and working with products that heavily rely on internal and/or external datasets.

· Ability to think in unconstrained and non-prescriptive ways to create optimal solutions with thoughtfulness around implementation impacts. Strong intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

· Ability to learn new concepts quickly, complete multiple and diverse assignments with high quality. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with ability to derive meaningful insights from analysis.

· Understands current Agile principles, methods, procedures, practices, tools, and techniques and stays abreast of best practices and emerging trends.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication and persuasion skills tailored to a variety of audiences with a variety of levels of knowledge, skills, and responsibilities.

· Able to cultivate strong working relationships with internal colleagues, clients, and external vendors.

· Able to work well in a team, be highly self-motivated with the ability to execute independently.

· Willingness to travel as required

Compensation

· Salary: $108,000 - $113,000
