Bridger Pipeline LLC is Hiring a Field Supervisor Near Keene, ND

Summary

This is a full-time position that is responsible for the safe and efficient twenty-four (24)-hour operation and maintenance of all crude oil pipelines, tanks, and terminals in the regional area. In addition, this position will be responsible for the supervision of field and office employees and for conducting operations in compliance with prescribed standards and regulations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities involving regional pipeline operation, maintenance, product movement, and construction consisting of approximately four hundred (40)0 miles of pipeline between Alexander and Dickinson, North Dakota and Baker, Montana.
  • Directs dispatching, quality control, and scheduling for product movement throughout the system. Works with operators and/or shippers to coordinate and prioritize pumping schedules and to monitor receipt and delivery schedules. Supervises the receipt and delivery of product from other systems and from point to point within the company's system.
  • Keeps written records as required and complies with rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Bureau of Land Management, and other federal, state, and local agencies. Follows company policies and procedures for gathering, maintaining, and reporting information. Follows industry standards established by the American Petroleum Institute.
  • Makes sound independent decisions based on standard procedures, rules, regulations, experience, and knowledge of the job environment. Provides daily status reports to management and keeps management informed of existing or anticipated problems. Provides timely and accurate reports to management on receipt and delivery of products.
  • Evaluates current procedures and practices; makes recommendations to management for work improvements and pipeline enhancements. Implements decisions.
  • Represents the company in dealings with producers, producers' representatives, and government agency representatives, and remains courteous and accommodating, but firm in all dealings.
  • Directs employees in gathering and submitting timely and accurate reports, including all required measuring, sampling, testing, and sealing, and in recording on run tickets. Directs employees in keeping equipment, pumps, valves, and connections clean, in good working order, and free of leaks.
  • Follows up on reports by employees who are unable to make necessary repairs to equipment. Follows up on employee reports of any condition or irregularity that could result in the loss of oil, of any physical changes in or to a tank that will affect its capacity or accurate measurement, and of any decided change in gravity or BS&W on any particular lease.
  • Coordinates the implementation of various programs with system analysts, technicians, environmental, construction, and/or safety personnel.
  • Contacts environmental staff and/or outside service companies, if required, to assist with product spills and cleanups, or to repair major damage to equipment, parts, and machinery. Approves subsequent invoices for payment.
  • Follows all instructions and procedures in the company Field Gauger's Manual, as well as company policies and federal regulations. Reports compliance problems to management.
  • Reads and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all materials being handled. Knows proper procedures for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal. Maintains current HAZWOPER certification.
  • Remains alert to potential hazardous concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Understands the dangers and ramifications of the presence of H2S, keeps H2S training current, and provides H2S training for employees.
  • Coordinates line locate activities and procedures. Remains familiar with one-call agencies and regulations.
  • May be required to operate company radio and work in isolated areas that may not receive radio communications; may be radioed to assist employees with stuck or broken down vehicles.
  • Utilizes the automated and programmable logic controller-based monitoring systems (remote-entry terminals and telemetering) at pipeline facilities.
  • Supervises and assists in performing routine and preventive pipeline servicing, repair, and maintenance; supervises and assists in the construction and abandonment of pipelines and associated pipeline systems.
  • Remains thoroughly familiar with the location of all lines, points of tie-in with other lines, location of valves, and the general condition of lines and equipment in the district.
  • Monitors supplies, parts, equipment, chemicals, and materials used by employees; reorders as needed and as authorized.
  • Pursues reports of drilling activities in the vicinity that present opportunities for new connections.
  • May be required to work extended hours of up to sixty (60) hours per week, including weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • A college degree with prior experience or training in measuring, sampling, and testing crude oil, as well as knowledge of gauging equipment, supplies, and technology; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid flow, pressure, hydrostatic head, pump characteristics and pipeline operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Ability to drive to and work in isolated areas on a daily basis.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
