Implements all water safety policies and procedures; supervises members and guests in and around the swimming pool.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Vacuums pool bottom, empties skimmer baskets, skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
-Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning and at the end of the day, returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard office.
-Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety. Enforces rules of conduct.
-Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of locker rooms, bathrooms and showers.
-Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the pool manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
-Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers. Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items to the pool manager.
-Maintains all necessary records including; daily member & guest log, guest fee billing, air temperature, pool chemical readings.
-Straightens and cleans the tables, chairs and chaise lounges on the pool deck and patio areas at the end of the day.
-Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests pool side games.
Requirements:
Required Skill/Knowledge:
-Must be a proficient swimmer.
-Enjoys children, the outdoors and has a love for the water.
-Must be focused on water safety at all times.
Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:
Must have patience and love working with children. Experience with ensuring the safety of others within the pool area.
Education Level / Required Certification:
-High school or some college, American Red Cross life guard certification, first aid, CPR/AED certification.
-No previous experience is necessary but must be lifeguard certified. Certification costs will be reimbursed.
Problem Solving:
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
-Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations
