Job Summary: System Administrators are responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of an organization's computer systems. They ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and provide technical support to end-users. This role requires a Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI. While a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, equivalent experience is also considered. While certifications are preferred, they are not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
1. System Configuration and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and software patches. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
2. Security Management: Implement security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates as needed.
3. User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up user accounts, and resolving connectivity problems.
4. Backup and Recovery: Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect data integrity and minimize downtime. Test backup systems regularly to ensure reliability.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and security.
6. Automation and Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline system administration processes. Implement automation tools and scripts to improve efficiency.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support organizational goals and initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in system administration or a related role.
· Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
· Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
· Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
· Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Scripting experience required
· Preferred: VMWare Admin, and VDI Experience
