Within this role you will be tasked with maintaining the smooth operation of machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The multi-skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery as part of the Engineering team. The Industrial Maintenance Technician will work in collaboration with the remote Group Engineering Manager and report directly to the VP of Operations.
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and organising repairs as and when required, dealing with emergency breakdowns urgently, calling in outside contractors when required, assisting with installing and commissioning new machinery and providing maintenance support to all departments as and when required. This role would suit a qualified Industrial Maintenance Technician Engineer looking to join a growing company.
The Role of Multi Skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician
Responsibilities:
· Preparing, carrying out and recording weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual preventative maintenance schedules
· Dealing with emergency breakdowns urgently, calling in outside contractors when required
· Suggesting pro-active improvements to problems encountered
· Providing a hand sealer repair service to our customers
· Finding faults and resolutions
· Carrying out PAT Testing
· Ensuring that company system of purchase requisitions/orders is adhered to
· Dealing with property repairs and general onsite maintenance
· Occasional out of hours work when necessary to support breakdowns/urgent repairs
· Competent set up and operation of production machinery.
· Multi Skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician – (Electrically Biased)
· Working within a small Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering manager.
· Working on various mechanical and electrical projects including fabrication
· Installing and commissioning new machinery
· Training other staff on production machinery
· Ensuring all Departments in the company are working together towards a common goal
· Developing your own engineering and management skills
· Any other reasonable request, including helping with production when engineering duties are taken care of.
Skills and Experience:
· You must be able to attend to both Mechanical and Electrical maintenance tasks and additional training will be provided.
· Trained to Engineering apprenticeship standard
o Good math skills
o Understanding of specialised machine tools e.g. lathe or milling machines
o Using various hand and measuring tools
o Assembling components so they are ready for installation like bearing, shafts, rollers, gearboxes and gears
o Reading and interpreting mechanical project plans
o Coordinating with contractors for efficient installations
o Performing MIG or TIG and other types of welding methods depending on the project will be viewed favourably
o Plumbing
o Finding and fixing faults in pipework
o Experience with Pneumatics and Hydraulics systems essential
o Repair and service conveyor systems
· Together with good awareness of Health & Safety will be viewed favourably
· Experience in factory and office electrical wiring
Qualification:
· Ideal candidates will hold the minimum of the following qualifications:
NCCER Level 1 – electrical training certificate
Core OSHA certificate
Desirable but not essential knowledge and experience:
· Fault finding and performing diagnosis on PLC equipment – Allen Bradley, Lenze PLC
· Knowledge of Appliance testing and statutory regulations
· Arc or MIG welding
· MS Visio or AutoCAD – crating tech drawings
· Tools and die making – use of machine tools (lathe, milling machine and pillar drill)
