Job description

As an Hospice Receptionist/Patient Coordinator, you will:

Be responsible for initiating and coordinating the clerical and administrative functions required of Branch office such as handling correspondence and word processing, answering telephone and e-mail inquiries. This includes producing and processing very confidential information. Also responsible for answering and directing calls to appropriate individuals, sending out messages to staff in the field, greeting all customers and employees, performing general administrative duties and may also assist other staff with overflow work.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with general office functions including, but not limited to, filing, scanning, copying, maintaining records / files, and faxing records.
  • Ability to schedule several providers over different geographical areas to maximize the efficiency and use of the provider’s time.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional manner; directs calls appropriately.
  • Ensure phones are removed from answering service in the morning and rolled over to answering service in the evening.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Administrator, coworkers and visitors.
  • Is a resource person both within the Branch and to administrative staff.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Accountable for outgoing services for USPS, UPS, Federal Express and messenger services.
  • General scanning of documents into patient records.
  • Assists with work overflow.
  • Maintains office cleanliness and organization.
  • Provides administrative support to Administrator when necessary.
  • Data entry of patient information, scheduling and coordination of medical equipment and pharmacy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements Required Skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent. College or business school preferred.
  • One year experience in Hospice.
  • At least one year of experience in customer service or office administration. Medical Assistant, preferred. Hospice experience preferred.
  • Multi-phone line answering experience preferred. Pleasant, articulate phone voice essential.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong telephone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow direction and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Works well as a team player.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English. Bilingual is preferred.

Salary: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
