About the Position: Superintendent
As the Superintendent, you will lead and oversee daily activities of construction projects at the worksite and be responsible for the project's overall progress to be on time and on budget, while representing COLAS values and our commitment to safety. You will work in unison with the Project Manager in all aspects of project delivery, in addition to the ability to perform a wide variety of skilled tasks, from carpentry to project management assistance, daily reporting, and participation in meetings with project stakeholders. Work is performed following best practices of the trade. Being able to provide additional oversight is central to this role, specifically for the workforce, suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and mentorship of colleagues; you will be empowered to focus on COLAS projects with resources to support growth and success.
General Responsibilities:
Leads and participates in all aspects of the project-specific safety plan creating a culture of safety awareness by demonstrating a commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
Coordination of the construction project, including meetings with subcontractors, owners, and personnel.
Work with the Project Manager to forecast and manage budget, craft labor, equipment, materials, tools, and general working environment.
Provide detailed project schedules, proof plans for the project, and write cohesive RFIs.
Detailed daily log reports, and review of construction documents for constructability
Coordinate specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies
Key Competencies:
Proficiency in understanding and expertise in commercial construction
Ability to collaborate and interact with a wide range of personalities and industry professionals
Ability to conduct effective preconstruction planning sessions and project site meetings
Ability to develop and implement site logistics plans and field teams
Ability to use a laser, DT-30, and manage Total Station
Proficiency in advanced mathematics skills
Proficiency in MS Office, Procore, and Bluebeam
Proficiency in Revit, Assemble, and Primavera P6
Proficiency in reading blueprints in digital and printed formats
Strong communication skills, oral and written in the English language
Education & Experience Requirements:
Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (eight years of trade experience or equivalent experience will be considered)
OSHA 30 certification (or within 6 months of hire date)
Minimum of 5 years of construction experience with 3 years of construction management
Experience and proficiency in structural concrete and wood framing in commercial construction projects ranging from $25k to $50m for diverse scopes (multi-family, mixed-use, civic, education, office, etc.)
Current driver's license
