Job Description: Rumtender & Retail Sales Associate

As a Rumtender, this candidate will be eligible for tips in addition to the hourly rate. When working as a Retail Sales Associate, this candidate will be eligible for bonuses based on sales goals in addition to the hourly rate earned.

A Rumtender is responsible for creating a positive experience with guests in the Tasting Room to encourage growth in the retail store. A successful Rum Tender will convey the history and knowledge behind Koloa Rum Company and our Rums while sparking brand interest.

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Rum Tender vary widely, but typically include the following:

• Greet customers when they enter the Tasting Room
• Build rapport through conversation and recommendations
• Study for and pass the red card test, in accordance with Kauai Liquor Control Commission
• Inform customers about product information through a story telling experience that conveys the culture, history, and ambience of the Koloa Rum Co. brand
• Keep all facets of the Tasting Room clean and orderly, including the bathroom
• Ensure the Tasting Room is ready for the next tasting/ Rum Tender
• Complete the daily task list for the Tasting Room in a timely manner
• Assist in the ordering of rum for the needs of the Tasting Room
• Relay any information or needs pertaining to the Tasting Room
• Adhere to company procedures and protocols, as needed
• Stay on time with tastings by coordinating with retail staff
• Able to stand for several consecutive hours
• Have a flexible schedule to work a variety of hours which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Accommodate and be flexible to fill tasting room to its capacity
• Other tasks, as needed, to assist store manager/ assistant manager

The Retail Associate position is responsible for handling various sales activities, including facilitating purchases and providing excellent customer service.

• Be aware of and help to ensure compliance with health and county, state, and federal liquor control regulations
• Greet customers when they enter the store
• Answer the phone with a friendly tone
• Build rapport through conversation and recommendations
• Study for and pass the red card test, in accordance with Kauai Liquor Control Commission
• Inform customers about product information
• Keep the sales floor stocked with merchandise
• Assist with displaying merchandise
• Organize the sales floor and stock area
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure rum tastings occur on schedule and to capacity
• Comfortable with speaking to large groups of people and providing clear directions
• Keep the store clean
• Accurately process cash, credit cards, and gift cards
• Able to stand for several consecutive hours

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
