Duties/Responsibilities
Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments of
supplies, equipment and materials.
Determines docking area most convenient for off-loading
purposes and directs carrier to designated unloading point. Sees that equipment
is unloaded in proper sequence and designates placement of items for checking.
Selects and assembles items for shipment and issue. Matches
item identification on issue and shipping requests with that at stock location
and checks stock identification change lists to ensure that proper item is
selected.
Determines holding and dock areas most suitable for
assembling and loading shipment.
Determines within the general warehousing plan how to
organize and arrange stock in the storage area.
Stores items for maximum convenience of handing and ease of
movement, as well as protection from damage, deterioration and pilferage.
Decides, within the framework of the storage plan, when to
set up, shift, and place stock in new locations and how to consolidate and
arrange items to keep aisles and other traffic areas clear of obstructions.
Operates material handling equipment to include forklift
trucks up to 3500 pound capacity gasoline or electric engine driven, and
different types of pallet jacks to move, load/unload, transfer, transport and
stack/unstack goods, materials, supplies.
Operates trucks from 1 ton up to 4 1/2-tons with up to five
speeds and two driving wheels, and a gross vehicle weight of up to 21,500
pounds to transport articles and materials throughout the National Capital
Region, for long and short hauls.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Business travel may be up to 10% of the
time.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness
determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position may require the completion of a pre-employment
Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the
continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform
the duties of the position.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess
or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S.
states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position requires you to obtain and maintain a forklift
operating license.
This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and
random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and
testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
