Spanish Teacher - Middle School

Location: Los Alamitos, CA

Company Overview: We are seeking an experienced Spanish teacher to join our team in Los Alamitos. Position Overview: The ideal candidate for the Middle School Spanish Teacher position will possess a strong background in teaching middle school students and be fully bilingual. They will be responsible for creating an immersive and supportive learning environment, implementing our curriculum focused on Comprehensible Input methodologies, and engaging students through various interactive activities. It is a contractor position. Two 6th grade Spanish classes, two 7th grade Spanish classes and two 8th grader Spanish classes. Each grade has Spanish twice per week for approximately 10 hours per week. This is NOT a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

• Engage students to ensure Spanish language acquisition.
• Implement Conversa's curriculum to develop proficiency and a love of the Spanish language.
• Create a safe and supportive environment that promotes active learning.
• Dedicate time and effort in mastering Comprehensible Input.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce classroom rules and expectations to maintain a respectful learning environment.
• Encourage students to use Spanish while focusing on comprehension of the language.
• Prepare, administer, and grade classwork, homework and tests to evaluate student’s progress.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate and meet with parents/guardians to discuss children’s progress and resolve any ongoing issues.
• Attend professional development training throughout the school year.
• Participate in school-wide events such as Back-To-School Night, Open Houses, and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
• Utilize learning technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.
• Foster a love for the Spanish language and culture through creative and interactive activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Experience teaching middle school students.
• Familiarity with Comprehensible Input methodology is preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
