Literacy Interventionist

Job Description

Primary Hall is seeking strong candidates to fulfill support roles that will help to ensure our students’ academic and personal success. At the core of our mission is the belief that education at our school will provide strong foundational skills in literacy and mathematics that will equip our students for academic and personal success throughout their educational careers and beyond. The Literacy Interventionist will support students by providing targeted literacy instruction to small groups and individual students. Surrounded by a team of like-minded educators, you will be supported to provide high quality instruction and grow as a teacher and leader.

Key Responsibilities

● Provide targeted reading intervention instruction to small groups or individual students

● Develop and deliver highly focused and differentiated lesson plans

● Use a variety of evidence-based instructional techniques and practices to improve student literacy outcomes

● Conduct screening and diagnostic assessments of students

● Frequently monitor progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust instructional practice and communicate with classroom teachers and families

● Attend grade level meetings and parent meetings as necessary

● Attend and lead professional development opportunities to support students and the school

● Provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses

● Provide the high quality instruction needed to move students to grade level proficiency

● Exhibit positive interactions with students, staff, and families

● Create and foster a positive, safe learning environment

● Uphold school routines and procedures

● Perform administrative tasks as required such as attendance, grades, and reports

● Other relevant duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Key Qualifications & Competencies

● Bachelor’s degree required

● Valid relevant NYS teaching certification

● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and instructional leaders

● Commitment to, belief in, and alignment with the mission of the school, its goals, its educational philosophy, and commitment to our students, staff, and families

● Strong growth mindset, with a willingness to take personal responsibility, able to internalize and apply feedback with immediacy, dedication to effectiveness and excellence

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Strong attention to detail

● Strong organizational skills

● Communicates well with others and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues

● Remains calm under pressure

● Positive attitude

● Flexibility and willingness to take initiative

● Prior experience in school settings preferred

● Bachelor’s degree required

Compensation:

Starting salary: $50,000 for certified teachers

Start Date:

August 2024
