Job Title: Crisis Engagement Specialist (Case Manager)

Home Office: Vienna, IL or Anna, IL

Area of Focus: Behavioral Health

Program(s): 590 - Crisis Response and Intervention Services, which are available 24/7, help people of all ages deal with immediate stressors, minimize the negative effects of physical or mental health challenges, and cope with a loss of functioning in any area of life.

Immediate Supervisor: Sr. Program Director

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

    • Week 1
      • Monday , Thursday, Friday Saturday (7am-5:30pm)
    • Week 2
      • Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (7am-5:30pm)

Crisis Engagement Specialist Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; lived experience is required; Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) or the ability to obtain CRSS credential if not already an MHP; must be at least 21 years of age.

Crisis Engagement Specialist Skills & Knowledge: Skilled in the delivery of crisis support services; knowledge of local health and human services resources; excellent written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills; ability to navigate enhanced phone system.

Crisis Engagement Specialist Special Requirements: Participate in after-hours dual crisis response on-call rotation; Must obtain the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within 1 year of hire; Has lived experience in areas of mental health, substance use, or navigating crisis systems; Resident of Alexander County, Pulaski County, Johnson County, Union County, Massac County, Pope County or Hardin County preferred; Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, as applicable; Maintain First Aid & CPR certification; Must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks; Travel to all agency sites when appropriate; Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance.

Crisis Engagement Specialist jo b duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates communication externally and across agency staff/applicable programs to ensure continuity of care for individuals presenting in crisis services.
  • Provides timely phone and in-person follow-up with individuals, families, and inpatient systems; assesses the efficacy of the developed safety plan and makes updates as needed.
  • Serves as the point of contact between Arrowleaf and inpatient facilities to exchange information and develop a plan of care following discharge including, but not limited to counseling and psychiatric linkage.
  • Provides comprehensive consumer care and case management services, onsite and offsite as identified by client needs, including access to transportation services, state and federal entitlements, medical care, psychiatric care, housing, and other basic needs to support stabilization and reduce re-entry into crisis.
  • Operates as the initial access point for individuals calling the Agency’s 24/7 resource and crisis line.
  • Assesses for presenting needs and the immediate safety of individuals in crisis; facilitates warm handoff to Crisis QMHPs and/or first responders, as applicable.
  • Provides phone-based peer support to individuals who do not present as an imminent safety risk that are not in need of a face to face response.
  • Provides peer support services during crisis intervention when deemed necessary by QMHP/Crisis Director.
  • Conducts outreach to individuals who are in or at risk of entering crisis systems of care in an effort to assess for access barriers and engage them into treatment and other stabilization supports.
  • Fields inquiries from Illinois’ Call4Calm line to assess immediate needs and link to identified resources.
  • Provides crisis support services for the required after-hours dual crisis response on-call rotation
