Pacific Science Center is Hiring a Camp Site Lead Near Seattle, WA

Position SummaryThe Camps Site Lead provides daily support and leadership for Camp staff, campers, families/caregivers, and guests at PacSci or an offsite camp location by facilitating smooth daily operations and providing excellent customer services. The Site Lead will work closely with the Camps Supervisor, supply team, and other operational staff.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist Camps Manager and Supervisor in overseeing daily operations of one camp location and communicating with relevant Pacific Science Center departmentsCoordinate and assist with customer service and communication between camp staff, families/caregivers, guests, and campers personal aidesOversee the creation and distribution of daily camp letters to communicate program activities to families and caregiversEnsure implementation of all policies and procedures, including first aid and emergency procedures at PacSci and/or offsite locationsMay include supervising campers in Extended-Day programAssist with planning and executing site logistical and operational plans including drop-off and pick-up, camper lunches, creating weekly At-A-Glance schedules, and overseeing site safetyFor offsites, serve as liaison between offsite staff and camp adminEnsure supply needs are met and assist with supply management, including working with the supply team and operations assistant with coordinating weekly movement of suppliesSupervise campers when needed, including all lunch periods, and provide recreational activities when neededRespond to and support camp staff with camper behavior managementAssist with training, assessing, and supporting camp staff to deliver programs and manage camper safety and behaviorModel safe, effective and equitable science facilitation methodsAssist in creating a welcoming and fun work environment where educators are supported and celebratedAssist Camps Supervisor in ensuring efficient staff coverage, schedules, and staff breaksOther duties as assignedPosition Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesKnowledge of (or the ability to learn):Basic science knowledgeBehavior management best practicesInformal education and STEM facilitation practicesLeading others and various projectsSkills:Exceptional customer service skills; communicates effectively, respectfully, and in a timely manner with a welcoming and approachable demeanorFlexible and able to adapt in rapidly changing, fast-paced environmentsGreat attention to detailMultitask, prioritize, and organize multiple daily tasksAbility to:Supervise campers when needed, including all lunch periodsTake initiative, work independently as well as within a teamBe a leader for camp staffTrack, maintain, and communicate program records including confidential health informationBe proactive, have situational awareness, plan ahead and make adjustments in support of camp staff and campersEnsure campers of all ages and from diverse backgrounds are welcomed and served in a manner that makes their experience positive, memorable and consistent with Pacific Science Centers mission, vision, and valuesApproach each interaction individually and without expectation or judgement of content knowledge level of interest, or background in scienceEngage youth grades pre-K8 using developed curriculum delivery; step in as educator if neededMaintain security and follow all safety proceduresQualificationsRequiredDemonstrated teaching experience and classroom management skillsDemonstrated ability to prioritize and respond to camp issues the arise throughout the dayAt least 21 years of age at the start of campAttending training sessions at beginning of the summer seasonFirst Aid/AED/CPR certification or willingness to obtainWA State Food Handlers permit or willingness to obtainAvailable to work a minimum of 7-10 full weeks of the summer season depending on location placementPreferredAssociate degree or equivalent experienceBachelors Degree (or in pursuit of)Valid WA drivers license and good driving record with at least 5 years of driving history, including no moving violations in the past 3 yearsInformal education experienceSupervisory experienceProject management and communication skillsAvailable to work all 10 weeks of the summer season (June 24-August 30)This is a temporary, full-time summer position that begins before the start of camps. Due to a variety of camps and location, hours can vary daily, typically totaling 40 hours per week during the camps season. Some camps are full day while others are half day, this position remains full-time. A uniform t-shirt is provided and required to be worn while on the job. This position may require driving a 15-passanger van and assuming responsibility of the safety and security of all passengers.CompensationPay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.Starting Base Salary Rate: $22.00 / hourIn addition to base salary, Pacific Science Center offers the following benefits to temporary employees:403(b) Retirement SavingsEmployee PacSci MembershipThis position description generally describes the principle functions of the position and the level of knowledge and skills typically required.
