Job Summary

The Family Engagement Manager oversees family engagement programming to include: Home Visiting, Family Engagement Specialists, and Family Education. The Family Engagement Manager facilitates parents, staff, and others in the design and implementation of a family engagement plan, in documentation of services, and completion of reporting requirements. Provides supportive supervision, facilitates reflective practice and oversees professional development of staff.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the management of the Family Engagement Department
  • Supervise and support the Community-Based Family Engagement Coordinator, Center-Based Family Engagement Coordinator, Home-Based Wellness Specialist, Practice-Based Coach, and the Family Education Specialist.
  • Provide 2x/monthly reflective supervision for supervisees
  • Meet with the Director of Programming twice a month for reflective supervision
  • Facilitate and create a seamless communication system for staff in the Family Engagement Department to include regular staff meetings and other methods of regular communication
  • Collaborate with the Center-Based Manager and Community Engagement Manager to provide seamless and cohesive coordination of high quality direct programming for Decatur area children and families
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programming and Practice-Based Coaches to ensure systems are in place to support ongoing professional development of Family Engagement staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programming to ensure systems, policies, procedures, and protocols are established and regularly monitored to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including Office of Head Start, Prevention Initiative and Head Start Performance Standards
  • Establish and oversee a system for Parent, Family, and Child Engagement (PFCE) data and family outcomes tracking
  • Oversee system for documentation of services, family goals, and family events
  • Ensure Baby TALK Quality Confirmation standards are met and maintained
  • Ensure curriculum, child assessment and screening fidelity for Family Engagement staff
  • Serve as a member of the local Baby TALK Leadership Team
  • Provide monthly program reports to the Director of Programming
  • Perform other work related or assigned duties

Requirements

Education and Job Requirements

BA in Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related field. Three (3) years combined experience preferred. Experience in family engagement, supervision of staff and in the development of comprehensive quality program plans preferred. Ability to interact positively with program participants, agency representatives, and the community-at-large.

Other Job Requirements

· Effective management skills including: written and verbal communication skills, decision-making skills, supervision abilities, managerial skills, time and stress management skills, organizational skills, and observational skills.

· Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start and ISBE Prevention Initiative systems or a willingness to learn.

· Ability to work cooperatively with supervisor, peers, and subordinates.

· Possess current First Aid and CPR cards with infant/child CPR or a willingness to complete.

· Ability to travel occasionally.

· Ability to pass agency sponsored physical examination.

· This position is an authorized driver and must possess own vehicle, current driver’s license, good driving record, and auto insurance coverage.

· THIS IS A MANDATED REPORTER POSITION.

· Must have ability to operate computers and possess basic knowledge of MS Windows, Microsoft Word and other software.

· Effective training/development skills.

· Must perform duties with moderate direction given, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made with general agency policy constraints, but requires independent decision-making.

Physical Requirements of the Job

Job Conditions:

May work outdoors intermittently with exposure to typical weather. There may be frequent interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work, working long hours during peak periods. May be exposed to illnesses generally attributed to children.

Mental Requirements of the Job:

Continual interaction with co-workers, parents, and children to provide information. Must relate positively to children and adults. Patient, able to resolve conflicts, creative, and resourceful. Excellent problem solving, planning, and organizational skills. Frequently faces deadlines with attention to detail and must complete tasks in a timely manner. Supervision of multiple staff who oversee a wide-range of family services and supports. Must be able to handle multi-faceted tasks on a frequent basis.

Accountability

The Family Engagement Manager is directly accountable to Baby TALK’s Director of Programming. The Director of Programming evaluates the Family Engagement Manager twice a year and more frequently if needed. Reflective supervision is provided by the Director of Programming on a regular basis. The Family Engagement Manager is evaluated based on the responsibilities described in this position description.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,500.00 per year
