Job Description

General Description :

The persons in this position are responsible for performing the hands-on NDT inspections, interfacing with the onsite client, and preliminary evaluations of inspected items.

This individual reports directly to the Inspection Foreman.

Essential Duties & Job Functions :

  • Demonstrate and ensure an overall commitment to Safety and Quality.
  • Maintain required NDT level 2 certifications in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A and contractors NDE program.
  • An NDT Level II individual shall be qualified to set up and calibrate equipment for task at hand.
  • Interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures and customer's specific requests.
  • Properly perform specific calibrations, specific NDE, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record accurate results.
  • Perform NDT Inspections on various piping and components.
  • Perform inspections and reporting in accordance with Inspection guidelines.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation analysis from inspections performed.
  • As required by various jobs and clients : Read isometric drawings.
  • Execute safety and permitting requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair equipment.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment (with certification or license)
  • Responsible for proper transportation, control and disposal of hazardous materials in technicians' control
  • Direct, instruct, and be a positive role model to the Level l or Trainee that is accompanying them on the job.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Ability to lead an Automated Radiography Detection Crew.
  • Knowledge of various applications of NDT techniques and methods used to collect inspection data utilized in support of integrity management programs.

Work Environment :

  • Work extended hours in cold temperatures. Daily overtime will be required.
  • Climb stairs, ladders and / or scaffolding up to 100 feet multiple times per day, utilizing three points of contacts
  • Must be able to climb stairs / scaffolding / ladder while holding handrail with opposite hand.
  • Work at heights up to 100 feet.
  • Work in a crouched position for extended periods of time.
  • Lift 65 pounds or more with a rope using hand-over-hand technique.
  • Work in confined spaces and repetitively bend and / or twist through small entryways.
  • Carry and effectively manipulate a 16-foot ladder.
  • Walk, climb and maneuver on or around piping, piping supports while working in a crouched position.

Contingencies :

Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

Required Qualifications :

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • ASNT Level 2 certification for RT (CR or DR required) is required.
  • Two years' experience utilizing real time radiography for the detection of CUI
  • Two years' experience interpreting real time images for CUI interpretation
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions
  • Current IRRSP or State Radiographers Certification
  • Pass a Background Check and Drug Screen

Preferred Qualifications :

  • API 570 Certification is preferred.
  • Digital Radiography certification utilizing flat panel technology is preferred.
  • Experience utilizing the following equipment is preferred : QSA / Envision C-armTeledyne C-ViewQSA SnapshotSAIC RTR4Automated crawlers utilizing pneumatic gamma sourcesCurrent IRATA Level 1 or higher certification is preferred.

MOBILITY : Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push / pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

Safely carry up to 50 pounds with one hand.

  • HEARING : Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY : Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.

Have correctable vision to at least 20 / 40.

  • LIFTING : Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
