YMCA of Greater Houston Area is Hiring a Leaders in Training Program Assistant - Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch Near Katy, TX

Description

  • Y Teen L.I.F.E. provides youth centric programming that inspires a generation of young leaders to change the world. The ideal candidate has a commitment to youth work, asset development and the overall holistic development of teens.
  • Candidate will assist in developing, organizing and implementing cause-driven and high-quality YMCA club model teen programs in the following areas:

  • Achievers Club – Academic Support & Success, College Access, & Career Readiness
  • Leaders Club – Volunteerism and Community based service project implementation
  • Model United Nations Club – Global Civics Engagement
  • Youth and Government Club – Non-partisan mock Texas State Government
  • Changemakers – Advocacy and Project Management

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model in to all program activities.
  • Prepares registration forms
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Communicates with front desk in regards to scheduling program meetings, and registration dates and deadlines.
  • Maintains accurate records of all registrations for statistical reporting
  • Assists Program Director in operation of program
  • Develops activities for programs
  • Works with supervisor to maintain and/or increase program quality and participation
  • Assists supervisor and other staff with special projects as requested
  • Demonstrates physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned duties.
  • Coordinates use of center facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in center fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Including but not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for submission and approval of timesheets.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma(or Equivalent) College Degree
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Minimum 21 years of age(must be at least 5 years older than the oldest participant)
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience working with older youth and teens in a developmental setting.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations.
  • Valid driver's license and completion of defensive driving.
  • Available to work evenings & weekends

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, interpret, retain, and teach documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure/educational manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of children, parents, staff, members of the YMCA, and/or others, as well as in one-on-one situations.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and sound mature judgment to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, including assisting with curriculum learning. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to be sensitive and alert to the needs, feelings, and safety of others. Ability to ensure children’s safety and maintain YMCA and state standards and guidelines at all times.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and taste and smell. The employee must frequently move and/or lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 100 pounds such as furniture, supplies, equipment, children, etc. Possess adequate vision and hearing to safely monitor environment and teens. Ability to hear noises, distinguish distress signals and communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.

Hours

  • Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of the YMCA, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays, based on the center needs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
