Job Description

Resident Monitor Veterans Transitional House (Weekend Evening Shift)

Pay range: Hourly compensation is based on experience and qualifications. This is a evening part time shift. Hours awake will be spent working directly with the residents residing within the SHIP Veterans program

Reports Directly to: Program Manager

Job Description: This position supports formerly homeless persons who participate in SHIP’s Veterans program to ensure ongoing support and monitoring of program participants as they work on treatment, self-sufficiency, employment or mainstream services and their mental health recovery. The resident monitor acts to ensure the stability of residents in these programs, by observation and documentation of behaviors, medication compliance policy and procedure compliance and the following of their treatment plan. The resident monitor is familiar with resources for benefits and entitlements, alcohol and drug treatment, mental health treatment and housing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to residents in working toward the program goals of healthy recovery, medication compliance, income enhancement, securing permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
  • Monitor client progress. Counsel and guide clients in developing goals.
  • Provide ongoing individual support and encouragement to clients.
  • Input and maintain accurate records of resident’s progress through progress notes in each client file.
  • Assist in completing required reports for administration in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Observation and documentation of resident’s medication compliance.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and be a progressive problem solver.
  • Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries, and to de-escalate volatile situations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to individuals with multiple barriers to employment and housing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Must embrace the mission and philosophy of recovery and client centered treatment.
  • Ability to affectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, life- styles and sexual orientations and treat each one with respect and dignity.
  • Must have knowledge of housing resources, human service agencies and community groups.
  • Must have necessary computer skills to accomplish duties.
  • Must adhere to SHIP policies, including but not limited to non-discrimination, safety, drug and alcohol-free workplace, violence prevention and harassment-free workplace.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.00 per hour
