The Coordinator of Spanish Immersion serves OCS by providing program direction and oversight for the Spanish Immersion students and staff. She/He will help to establish program objectives, curriculum, engagement with the community, and evaluation of staff. The coordinator is responsible for educational and administrative leadership under the oversight of the building principals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Instructional Leadership

a. Lead the Spanish Immersion program at OCS in carrying out the mission and vision of our Christian school.

b. Collaborate in setting and carrying out the educational vision of the SI program with the Superintendent, building principals, and Academic Affairs Leader

c. Participates in the executive team and academic team as requested

d. Develops, leads and coordinates professional development in collaboration with the building principals and the professional development coordinator

e. Analyzes assessment data with faculty and ensures appropriate interventions are implemented for Spanish Immersion students.

h. Serves as instructional coach for S.I. teachers.

I. Contributes to evaluations of SI teachers and other support staff in the Spanish Immersion program--under the oversight of the building principals

J. Coordinates Spanish language assessments and English reading assessments of Spanish Immersion students with the Academic Affairs Leader

K. Supports and promotes appropriate cross-cultural experiences and activities related to Spanish Immersion.

2. Administrative and Financial Leadership

a. Works with the administrative team to establish and execute the operating policies and procedures of the school.

b. Works with the Superintendent to prepare a yearly budget for the Spanish Immersion program, including purchase of curriculum, books and resources that are specific to SI

c. Works with the Superintendent, where appropriate, to implement the Strategic Plan.

d. Participates in the accreditation process as appropriate.

e. Represents and promotes the Spanish Immersion program to donors, constituents, and prospective families.

3. Personnel Leadership

a. Leads the recruitment and interview process--in collaboration with building principals--of Spanish Immersion staff.

b. In collaboration with the building principals, assigns Spanish Immersion faculty and staff to particular teaching or support positions.

c. Supports all faculty and staff spiritually and professionally and promotes positive staff morale.

d. Mentors new SI teachers or ensure they have a mentor teacher.

4. Curriculum Leadership

a. Provides leadership in establishing and implementing curriculum goals and objectives for the Spanish Immersion program.

b. Coordinates and evaluates the curriculum alignment and scope and sequence in accordance with the district curriculum policy.

5. Student and Parent Responsibilities

a. Answers communications or concerns raised by families in a timely and professional manner.

b. Educate parents, staff, and community about the purpose and characteristics of Spanish immersion

c.Provide updates to parents about program developments/changes.

d. Hold parent meetings and family fellowship opportunities each school year.

6. Public Relations

a. Promotes Oakland Christian School to the community.

b. Develops and maintains written and verbal communication with the community that promotes the mission and vision of the school.

c. Supports Spanish Immersion staff to develop positive relationships with the community.

d. Works with the Admissions Assistant to create social media posts about the SI program.

e. Maintains a relationship with other Christian schools with immersion programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,707.19 - $45,410.81 per year
