Chinese Information and Service Center (CISC) is Hiring a Social Service Specialist (Bilingual in Russian) Near Bellevue, WA

ABOUT: CISC is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 that supports immigrants and their families by creating opportunities for them to succeed while honoring their heritage. We provide youth, family, and senior services including preschool, after-school, ESL/naturalization, in-home care case management, and healthcare navigation programs. We serve immigrants who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese, Spanish, and other languages at our office locations and numerous community-based sites throughout King County, Washington.

JOB SUMMARY: The Social Service Specialist works independently and collaboratively with internal programs that support the Russian-speaking community in the Seattle/King County areas. They provide professional, comprehensive wrap-around services to elderly and/or disabled Russian-speaking adults through a multidisciplinary approach. This full-time (40 hours per week) position requires extensive outreach and/or after office hours meetings.

JOB DUTIES:

Community Outreach (40%)

  • Develop and secure outreach sites for collaborative outreach activities with partners such as senior and community centers, senior and low-income housings, local social service organizations, etc.
  • Collaborate with service providers and community partners to establish a referral network and schedule outreach activities.
  • Conduct regular community workshops to educate the community about available resources that improve health and well-being.
  • Attend or convene community meetings as necessary, which may occasionally occur in the evening or weekend.

Information and Assistance Support (60%)

  • Provide information and direct assistance at various sites on the Eastside to help clients navigate programs, services, and resources to address their housing, health, economic security, and other needs.
  • Provide formal and informal referral services to community resources.
  • Collaborate with internal programs to ensure that clients' needs are being addressed.
  • Attend trainings and workshops
  • Submit monthly service data reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two-year of proven work experience in social services or counseling supporting low-income, diverse, and/or immigrant populations
  • Extensive knowledge in community-based in-home care programs in King County
  • Education & Experience:

o Master’s degree in behavioral or health sciences and one year paid on-the-job social service experience; or

o Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or health sciences and two years of paid-on-the-job social services experience; or

o Bachelor’s degree and four years of paid on-the-job social services experience

  • Fluent in both English and Russian.
  • Able to effectively multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license, own a car, and have auto insurance.
  • Proficient in using computers and information technology in daily work.
  • Employees must reside in Washington state and be within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Training requirement:

  • Washington Heath Plan In-person Assister training is required when the formal training sessions are available.
