Ernst Concrete is Hiring a Loader operator Near Lithia Springs, GA

Ernst Concrete is accepting applications for an front end loader operator for our Lithia Springs location. Successful candidate will operate straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers and chutes.

Successful candidate must be willing and able to work a varied schedule. This is a full time position with benefits. Essential Job Functions

  • Perform Pre-Trip inspection of the loader in accordance with Ernst regulations.
  • Maneuver loader in a safe manner at all times.
  • Operate loader economically. (Shut loader off when not in use)
  • Grease bucket pins and lift arms daily.
  • Visually inspect all belts and rollers while plant is in operation.
  • Add various ingredients such as rock, sand, and other products as directed.
  • Drain moisture trap and fill oilers.
  • Maintain required oil levels and air filters in the air compressor.
  • Maintain area under load hoppers.
  • Maintain a clean loading ramp underneath the plant.
  • Breakdown and reset block forms.
  • Blow dust collector pod as needed.
  • Hose off dust collector shroud as needed.
  • Perform Pre-trip inspection on yard tankers and water truck.
  • Keep tankers blown off and load bins full at all times.
  • Maintain concrete re-claimer and the surrounding area.
  • Communicate often with dispatcher throughout the day.
  • Refuel loader every evening and as necessary throughout the day.
  • Grease all tail and head pulleys along with tightening set screws.
  • Keep trash picked up around the plant shop and parking lots.
  • Make sure tool shed and watershed are swept clean and are organized.
  • Maintain a good rapport with the maintenance personal.
  • Visually inspect aggregate shape and size and report problems to Q.C. or Plant Manager.
  • Visually inspect plant for cracks in steel.
  • Listen for problems while plant is in operation. (Air leaks, bearing & roller noises etc.)

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to do simple math, such as addition and subtraction.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Must be able to deal with management and co-workers in a diplomatic manner in varied stressful situations.

Physical Demands

This is moderately strenuous work. The loader operator must climb in and out of loader approximately 50 times per day.

The bottom of the seat is approximately 72 inches from the ground. The first step is two feet off the ground, with the second step one foot higher.

A bar or handle is provided to help the driver pull himself into the cab.

Each loader is equipped with levers and pedals which are used to control the many parts of the loader while driving and during the process of loading materials into the load bins.

The operator must be able to manipulate the levers and pedals in a coordinated manner.

  • Loader operators must wash and clean the loader with brushes and a hose. This requires a fair amount of climbing on the loader.
  • Loader operators must climb ladders and catwalks’ up to eighty feet high.

Environmental Conditions

Loader operators work outdoors the majority of the time. Weather conditions such as temperature, moisture and other conditions have a significant impact on the job.

Therefore, operators must be tolerating, with or without reasonable accommodations, being exposed frequently to extreme weather conditions.

  • This job varies greatly due to weather and location conditions. The ground is usually rough, muddy or icy. The operator must be able to tolerate varied work conditions.
  • There are high noise levels and significant vibration associated with this position. This may be caused by the loader, truck and construction equipment and jobsite noise.

The operator must be able to tolerate, with or without reasonable accommodation, intermittent exposure to noise, vibration and other aggravation conditions at or around the operating sites.
