Inspection Engineer

We are a growing organization seeking a talented Inspection Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Torrance Refining Company in Torrance, CA.

Job Summary

This individual will provide technical support to the Process, Maintenance and Technical Team in the analysis of fixed equipment (including piping) to improve overall refinery safety and reliability.

Principal Responsibilities

* Perform technical analysis for review and closure of inspection recommendations and equipment strategy tasks

* Perform simple, statistical, or other advanced evaluations of thickness data to determine corrosion rates and remaining life.

* Provide technical support for development and major updates to equipment strategies, and evergreen PCMS.

* Develop inspection plans, evaluate inspection results, and make recommendations for repairs and next inspections

* Provide technical oversight for the inspection of fixed equipment, piping, and structural items considering industry best practice, RAGEGAP.

* Apply, coordinate, or oversee the application of NDE for fixed equipment for routine activities and turnarounds

* In depth knowledge of RBI assessment, inspection codes and local regulatory requirements associated with equipment integrity and PCMS implementation support.

* Provide monthly and quarterly KPI report and initiate special emphasis inspection programs to improve the inspection efficiency and reliability.

* Initiate annual internal MI audit to verify inspection data quality

Routine duties include gathering equipment data and information in the field, performing visual inspections at heights, recording data and information to assure equipment histories are current, analyzing inspection findings, developing recommendations, and preparing inspection reports. The inspection engineer will perform calculations (use of statistical methods) using corrosion data to determine inspection schedules, and equipment/piping remaining life.

Critical competencies include technical knowledge, teamwork/building consensus skills, setting high standards, and effective communication. Other required competencies include taking initiative, and innovation. In addition, candidates must have basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet (EXCEL), PCMS inspection data base. Inspection Engineer may be required to obtain additional industry certifications as determined by the Inspection Group Leader to continue in the position.

Job Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

* A minimum of 5 years of refinery experience in one or more of the following areas : Maintenance, Operations, Technical, Industrial Equipment Inspector, ASNT Level II in PT/MT/UT, ASNT Level II in RTI, etc.

* Knowledge of NDT preferred with ASNT Level II in PT/MT/UT and one or more of the following certifications (by examination): API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, AWS-CWI

The salary range for this position is $97,322.86 - $172,707.40. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate's compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.
