UCP Heartland, Gibbs Center, Jefferson City is looking for an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), who is ready to provide direct services to our amazing clients!

Do you have:
  • Your LPN in Nursing from an accredited college, university or hospital
  • Required licensure and registration with the state of Missouri.
  • One Year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Expertise and familiarity with electronic records systems as well as basic computer software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to transfer adults who may weigh in excess of 150 pounds using mechanical supports.

So, what does the job look like?
  • Ensure the physician orders are present, current and inclusive of all required information per Agency and DMH policies.
  • Administer medications and/or treatments as prescribed (g-tube feedings, nebulizer treatments, etc.) for all Clients ensuring prompt, thorough documentation in accordance with Agency policy and accepted standards of care.
  • Assures medication storage and disposal in accordance with Agency requirements.
  • Provide care for Clients in need of first aid or more advanced medical services or who are otherwise ill.
  • Daily charting of medications and Client health information using an electronic records system.
  • As needed, provide for and assure that personal care needs (ADLs) of Clients are met.
  • Facilitate and monitor Clients’ special diet orders.
  • Assure compliance with Agency policy regarding medical protocols (annual physicals and updated medical records) for Clients in coordination with the RN and Agency’s Medical Director.
  • Teach level 1 Medication Administration Training for Direct Support Professionals and serve as a coach/consultant regarding medication errors.
  • Interact on a professional level with families and physicians to assure that Client needs are presented and addressed.
  • Provide staff training in the areas of health management, medication administration, and infectious disease control among others.
  • Acts in the absence of the Registered Nurse.
We Would Prefer You Have:
  • Three or More Years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
This is a FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT POSITION.
