Basic Function
To assist certified nurse assistants (CNA) while in training for CNA license. Resident Assistants are only able to assist with essential duties listed below.
Essential duties

1. Monitor and appropriately respond to call lights, bed alarms, chair alarms and door alarms.
2. Assist with transporting residents into and out of dining room.
3. Assist residents in preparing for activity and social programs and transport, accompany and participate when assigned.
4. Make beds and change linens when soiled.
5. Assist resident with hair combing, brushing and rolling hair.
6. Paint fingernails.
7. Prepare resident for meals, assist serving food trays or assist with feeding (non-diet altered only) as necessary and record/or report residents' intake or acceptance of food after taking the paid feeding program or taught in CNA class.
8. Serve between meal and bedtime snacks or nourishments.
9. Pass and fill water pitchers.
10. Stock supplies such as briefs, gloves, wipes, isolation carts and fill soaps.
11. Attend all mandatory in-services.
12. Assist with checking in visitors.
13. Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the nurse immediately.
14. Follow established safety precautions in performance of all duties.
15. Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident and follow. infection control guidelines and universal precautions.
16. Wash wheelchairs, walkers and canes.
17. Clean wash basins, emesis basins, denture cups, urinals and bed pans.
18. Record temperature, pulse, respirations and weights. May measure these after receiving appropriate instruction.
19. Follow established isolation precautions and procedures.
20. Observe and report any physical or emotional changes observed in the residents. including any complaints or grievances made by the resident.
21. Maintain confidentiality of all resident call information and ensure resident privacy.
22. Treat all residents, family and visitors with kindness, dignity and respect.
23. Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with policy and procedure and instruction of your supervisor.
24. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive regard as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
25. Adhere to all facility and department policies and procedures.
26. Assist other departments as needed.

Supervision Received
Receives supervision from the Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, or Nursing Supervisor.
Qualifications

• Requires enrollment in Greenway Manor Certified Nurse Assistant course
• Previous caregiver experience preferred
• Require employee to have a completed caregiver background check with no findings, denials or revocation to the caregiver law.
• Reliable attendance.
