Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties is Hiring a Maintenance / Facilities Technician Near Flint, MI

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs basic care, cleaning and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. Responsible for inventory and delivery of supplies to departments. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Performs routine preventative maintenance as scheduled and required on facility equipment.

2. Responsible for troubleshooting in problem-related areas pertaining to maintenance, plumbing, electrical, lawn, etc. Services, adjusts, and repairs basic mechanical equipment as needed.

3. Maintains and delivers stock supplies as required. Assists in inventory control which may include computerized inventory systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a clean building inside and out daily.
  • Directs work activities of volunteers and community service workers.
  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly records of maintenance records.
  • Records donations and gifts and forwards them to the Director in a timely manner.
  • Inform the Community Service Director or designee of any unsafe work Conditions.
  • Conducts daily janitorial service of all stock rooms, dining rooms, walk in cooler and freezer, kitchen area and all entrances floors and steps.
  • Maintains kitchen equipment maintenance.
  • Unloads and stores all new and in-kind stock that is delivered to the site in a timely manner.
  • Provides maintenance to all building issues that do not require a professional service.
  • Provides assistance to all Cooking Staff and Van driver when needed.
  • Ensures that all building doors are locked, all machines are turned off, and all gas stoves are turned off.
  • Supports fundraising events.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Execute work orders as needed including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other building related issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance experience with a strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic background along with trouble shooting and problem-solving skills. Must be computer literate and familiar with software programs. Building schematics experience preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of computers, working with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate and report out regularly to management.
  • Exemplify a positive attitude and demonstrate positive modeling behavior, and work as a cooperative team member and community collaborator.
  • Project professional conduct and demeanor.
  • Good organizational and time management skills and be able to report out on regular deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and other agencies.
  • Ability to possess reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to talk and hear to effectively communicate and educate individuals, and communicate with supervisor and clients in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; walk low-moderate distances; sit for prolonged periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle, touch, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop or kneel; and/or crouch or crawl pending activity, event participation, and/or other work-related item within various environments.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds for transporting program supply materials, if needed.
  • Must be able to be flexible in various work environments and be able to drive low-moderate distances for programming, meeting, and community event activities.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that has a moderate noise level, and may experience low-moderate interruptions throughout the day while in the office, and moderate-high interruptions while in the classroom/community.
  • Must be able to tolerate changing weather conditions.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Staff must abide by all policies and procedures of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties, which includes the Agency’s stance on abortion, and the Agency’s Mission and Vision, and the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy outlined by the Catholic Church and Code of Ethics.

Must pass all background and clearance checks including, but not limited to a criminal background check, DHHS Central Registry Clearance Check, and others as deemed applicable, and must have a valid driver’s license and carry auto insurance.

Pay: $13.79 - $16.81 per hour
