M&M Transport Services is seeking a Director of Safety in Putnam CT. This position partners with executive and operations management to identify, establish, and maintain an effective safety program which will minimize accidents, injuries, and other risks associated with a DOT classified workforce by providing direction, training, and recommendations, based on regulations and on analysis of corporate and industry trends.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of safety within the organization
• CSA Compliance, responsible monitoring and managing CSA Compliance
• Responsible for maintaining acceptable levels in all CSA Basics
• Manages company’s DOT random drug and alcohol program
• Works with appropriate personnel to ensure DQ file accuracy and maintenance
• Safety education - responsible for delivering a safety curriculum that enhances safety awareness throughout the organization and regular in-person safety meetings with drivers
• Accident management with first call responsibility in cooperation with maintenance and operations
• Develop, implement, execute and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, and property damage

Instruct drivers regarding company and DOT regulations, penalties for infraction of rules, and safety policies and procedures, provide immediate coaching when required

• Take accident reports, conduct incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of each action item, and leverage learning across the organization for all transportation accidents involving company personnel and/or equipment
• All aspects of driver qualification and best hiring practices
• Responsible for driver orientation, training and development programs
• Claims management for auto liability and workers compensation
• Management of a staff of local and field safety personnel

Qualifications - External

Skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required with appropriate experience
• Minimum 5 years verifiable experience in a safety leadership role within a transportation or logistics company, preferably at a Director level
• Knowledge of all applicable FMCSA and OSHA safety rules and regulations
• Ability to make and deliver training presentations, work collaboratively w/ colleagues to create a results driven, team oriented environment, maintain confidentially , make independent decisions, demonstrate excellent organizational skills
• Use of PC and operational software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TMW Suite, PeopleNet, DriveCam)
• Handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
