EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AUTHORITY is Hiring a Clinical Services Specialist QA/QI Near Tulsa, OK

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Development of educational material based on quality assurance metrics and or identified clinical initiatives.
  • Review clinical field performance, provide feedback to team members, identify clinical trends, and submit reporting as required.
  • Identify and report substandard sentinel events that may require immediate action to the Manager.
  • Initiate investigations for clinical performance and compliance.
  • Maintain pertinent performance records in the quality improvement database, documenting clinical performance, modeling clinical behavior against clinical standards, and providing feedback and plans for improvement.
  • Participate in other projects and/or research initiatives that enhance and support EMS education.
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of current clinical protocols and standards established by the Office of the Medical Director/Medical Control Board.
  • Maintain and measure supporting major areas of Quality Improvement including electronic Patient Care Report (ePCR) software reviews, Advanced Airway, Trauma ePCR reviews and others.
  • Report substandard documentation to clinical education and recommend remediation as needed.
  • Report substandard sentinel events that may require immediate action.
  • Maintain all pertinent performance records in the Quality Improvement database.
  • Maintain OMD CE/QI credentials for clinical staff.
  • Communicate with personnel regarding individual quality performance issues as needed.
  • Support goals and objectives of the Quality Improvement Program and Clinical department.
  • Be prepared to perform in the capacity as a field Paramedic at any time.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety standards and policies.
  • Adhere to and enforce all vehicle use and emergency vehicle operation standards and policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify training needs and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Clinical Manager, Director, and senior leadership.

  • Ability to diagnose complex technological issues and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Experience researching and using new technologies in an educational environment.
  • Ability to easily learn and teach new skills and technologies as well as create and present trainings.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Clinical Services, SLT, and external partners.
  • Ability to lift medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers license.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities but will handle investigations and activities as directed.
Physical Demands:
Required to walk, sit, stand and move about the property for periods of time.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Required to talk and hear and vision abilities.
  • Lifting and moving of patients and equipment is required. The team member must lift in conjunction with the partner or assist in moving and/or balance up to 250 pounds and occasionally life, move, and/or balance up to 350 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Work performed in an office setting and off-site.
  • Work has a high-stress environment.
  • Exposure to external environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and ice.
  • Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic with a minimum of three (3) years teaching, field training or supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) or more of the following instructor ratings: CPR, ACLS, BTLS, PHTLS, EMT or Paramedic.
  • Minimum of at least three (3) years field experience as a Paramedic.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a current driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
This candidate will be working regularly with confidential patient and personnel information. Must have the ability to maintain composure and tact in stressful situations. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through radio and telephone communications. Must possess the ability to demonstrate compassion and a sincere dedication to patient needs, concerns, and information confidentiality.
