Flint Hills Resources is looking to hire a Rail Strategist at our Pine Bend refinery in Rosemount, MN. In this role you will be responsible for the daily scheduling and billing of rail cars, working with a team to effectively operate our rail yard, and challenge the status quo to innovate and improve work processes and tools.

Our Team

This role is housed on the Transportation Logistics and Compliance Team. There are 2 rail strategists, a yard manager and a team lead. This team is passionate about solving daily and weekly logistics problems and maintaining a continuous, smooth daily operation for our rail distribution team.

What You Will Do

• Schedule and bill rail cars out of a complex facility to meet the needs of the refinery, customers, and operations
• Develop tools and best practices to manage rail yard inventory, sorting, and optimize loading
• Facilitate weekly and monthly rail and barge distribution planning for refinery products
• Troubleshoot daily and weekly issues that may arise in these routine processes
• Manage defective rail cars, unique opportunity scheduling, and compliance documentation
• Develop and maintain metrics to demonstrate the capability and performance of the rail distribution system
• Must be able to be on-call some evenings and weekends

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Five (5) years or more of logistics experience in an industrial setting

What Will Put You Ahead

• Rail or intermodal experience
• Job mapping and process change management experience
• Logistics and distribution management experience
• Product transfer, tank farm, or shipping logistics experience
• Experience using logistic management software (i.e., Yardmaster, Bourque, Transmetriq, etc.)
