Summary/Objective
The Manufacturing CNC Supervisor oversees manufacturing operations through a team of functional leads. They manage staffing, training, scheduling, and preventive maintenance for a high-volume producer of quality sporting firearms. This role involves monitoring and evaluating workflow, collaborating with various departments to implement process improvements, and deploying advanced technologies to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop a goal deployment plan to meet annual operational targets (Budget, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, etc.) and establish emergency backup plans.
Ensure monthly production volume and quality requirements are met.
Collaborate with the Manufacturing CNC Manager on proposed headcount needs and provide leadership for problem resolution to foster strong working relationships.
Enhance the capabilities of personnel within CNC machining.
Manage work cell capacity and loading to maintain balance.
Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
Work with continuous improvement teams to identify and eliminate variations leading to scrap or rework.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to identify and implement capital improvements, optimizing workflow across different plants.
Manage policy deployment in areas such as Lean Manufacturing techniques, Training & Work Standards, cost reduction, EH&S, employee relations, and plant performance measures.
Maintain facilities and production assets in optimal condition (TPM).
Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training, and development. Detail and implement long-term direct reports/organization plans to enhance department responsiveness.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Daily supervision of CNC team leads and operators.
Minimum Job Requirements
Associates/Bachelors degree in Engineering, CNC technical training, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of related leadership and management experience in a high-volume precision discrete parts CNC manufacturing environment.
(Preferred) Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Proficiency in modern metal cutting, finishing, and assembly techniques.
(Preferred) Understanding of CNC programming and G/M code.
Demonstrated ability to lead and achieve results through others.
Strategic thinking with the ability to plan over a 3-6-month time span.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong project and program management skills.
Quality orientation.
Proficiency in computer applications.
