Industrial Inspection & Analysis is hiring an ASNT Level III Technician to join our growing team in Danville, VA.


Summary

The ASNT Level III is responsible for nondestructive evaluations, certifications, and production activities to ensure testing activities meet the client’s Navsea requirements. Serve as the Level III in the applicable NDT methods of Radiographic Testing (RT), Computer Radiography (CR), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT),Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), and / or other advanced NDT methods based on the associated skill level; assess the integrity of the item inspected with respect to Navsea standards, and specifications; and report the results to the applicable personnel. Additionally, the Level III will support other associated tasks such as job preparation, coordination and reporting as directed by the GM or Project Manager.


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, laws, regulations, and customer requirements. Own job site safety stopping the job if required due to unsafe conditions or lack of compliance to quality requirements. Perform day to day and routine safety observations and inspections.
  • Support overall process and procedure development in support of the project.
  • Perform pre-job preparations of equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope.
  • Ensure hands on NDT / NDE (NDE) work is performed in accordance with appropriate codes and specifications, interfacing with the customer and directing / training for Technicians, Assistants / Apprentices based on the specific work scope. Ensure work and used materials are compliant with manufacturer and customer specifications.
  • Ensure sample preparation of materials and components for NDE during component manufacturing.
  • Assist performing NDE work when needed
  • Make accept / reject decisions for defect severity and determine disposition based on code, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform post-job equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope for the completed work and future work scheduled / planned.
  • Complete applicable job reports and other paperwork as required / instructed on or before the required date as communicated by the applicable IIA representative.


Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree in applied science or equivalent on the job experience.
  • ASNT Level III Certifications RT, UT, MT, PT, and ET.
  • Understanding of Navsea Requirements and Specifications preferred.
  • Familiar with Additive Manufacturing (DED Wire and Powder Bed Fusion) preferred.
  • Understand mechanical concepts and spatial relationships.
  • Understand basic physical NDT principles, processes, and limitations.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and prepare technical specifications and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to use basic software and Outlook to generate service reports and communicate within the company including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
  • Take and pass all pre-employment screening, including background and initial and future random drug screening.
  • Meet or exceed quality program requirements for work experience on the applicable method and total work experience for the NDT method and level.
  • Provide verifiable evidence of previous certification, or completion of ASNT recommended training program for applicable method, or successfully complete the training program and applicable exams.

  • May be exposed to ionizing radiation.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and / or push up to 50 lbs.
  • Must meet vision requirements for the job, including near vision, color vision, and depth perception.
