Title: AVP Retail Market Manager

Salary Range: Based on Experience

FLSA: Exempt

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00 Saturday 8:00 – 12:00

SUMMARY

The position of AVP Retail Market Manager is responsible for managing the retail banking operations of the branch, ensuring the maintenance of the Sauk Valley Bank customer service culture and standards. This position provides leadership, training, support and supervision to personnel, remains fully knowledgeable of bank products and services and is responsible for a superior level of internal and external relationship management.

In addition the AVP Retail Market Manager assures compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Maintains a high level of service delivery for retail banking products and services within the banking office along the standard of Hug Your Customer
  2. Partner with various lines of business to engage in business development activities and solicitation of new business
  3. Actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales and service environment through ongoing education, supervision, mentoring and coaching of retail personnel.
  4. Responsible for attaining established branch and SVB goals
  5. Responsible for education of retail staff on SVB’s products and services
  6. Supervises vault operations and procedures
  7. Represents SVB in various community and civic functions to further enhance our image and develop additional business
  8. Performs personnel actions including quarterly coaching, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of AVP Retail Market Manager performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of AVP Retail Market Manager is responsible for the supervision of retail banking employees of the branch.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Utilize MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint with a high degree of proficiency
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of retail lending and operations activities and terminology
  • Strong knowledge of general office practices.
  • Advanced math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employees using positive techniques to ensure maximum productivity
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.

The incumbent must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to him/herself or others.
