We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sleep Study Technician to join our esteemed medical practice. Typical shift is from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (3 to 4 nights) a week. As a Sleep Study Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. You will be responsible for monitoring patients during sleep studies, ensuring their safety and comfort, and accurately recording data for analysis by medical professionals.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $15.50 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience and performance. We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
Responsibilities:
Prepare sleep study rooms and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in working order.
Conduct patient intake procedures, explaining the sleep study process and addressing any concerns or questions.
Apply various monitoring devices and sensors to patients, including EEG electrodes, respiratory belts, and pulse oximeters.
Monitor patients during sleep studies, observing their sleep patterns and identifying any abnormalities or disturbances.
Respond promptly to any patient needs or emergencies during the sleep study.
Record accurate and detailed data, documenting sleep stages, breathing patterns, and other relevant information.
Collaborate with medical professionals to analyze sleep study results and assist in the diagnosis of sleep disorders.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines.
Clean and sterilize equipment after each use, ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in polysomnography or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a Sleep Study Technician or similar role.
Knowledge of sleep disorders, sleep study procedures, and various monitoring devices.
Proficiency in using sleep study equipment and software.
Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
Ability to work independently and make quick decisions during emergencies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient care and address concerns.
Willingness to work night shifts on a 3 to 4 nights rotation.
