Masuda Funai is seeking an Accounting Operations Specialist to join our Accounting Department. This role is responsible for a variety of operational tasks including cash applications, ad-hoc reporting, billing, and accounts payable support.
Location: 203 N LaSalle Street
Schedule: Hybrid - set 3 days in office
Salary Range : $50,000-$55,000/year plus annual bonus
Responsibilities:

• Monitor firm accounts and post daily cash receipts, including bank deposits, lockbox deposits, electronic transfers and credit card payments for both invoice payments and trust accounts
• Perform daily cash receipts reconciliation to ensure all payments are posted timely
• Work closely with billing staff to ensure that trust funds are available to be applied to invoices at the time of billing
• Prepare ad hoc reports as requested by internal staff and clients - for example fees billed and collected analyses, audit reports, etc.
• Communicate with clients regarding payment discrepancies; review and reconcile differences to resolve any payment issues
• Provide assistance with billing and accounts payable
• Assist with other department activities/tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of this job.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in Accounting, preferably at a law firm or professional services firm
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to learn new software
• General knowledge of accounting principles and internal control concepts
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Professional, diplomatic, and resilient demeanor and the ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, clients, and staff
• Ability to work in the Chicago office 3 days a week

Preferred Qualifications:

• Law firm experience
• Experience with Elite 3E
