Who You Are:

The Allen Institute for AI (AI2)'s People Operations team is seeking a People Operations Manager. This role's areas of focus are compensation, benefits, leaves administration and other aspects of our total rewards strategy, including retirement, perks and general health and wellbeing. Our People Operations Manager will manage one direct report and work strategically with other areas of People Operations and other parts of the organization to develop best-in-class solutions in each of these areas.
You are a mid-senior level human resources professional with a passion for helping people as part of a highly collaborative, service-oriented team. You think outside of the box and are open to new and creative ideas. You are driven by providing excellent team-focused solutions through the research and implementation of new programs and the improvement of existing programs. You have excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.

Who We Are:
The People Operations team consists of 7 team members and each fills an important role. We all help one another and consider ourselves to be tight knit and super collaborative. There is no task that is below anyone on the team. Our leader is also responsible for our Office Team which is a team of 5.
The People Ops group reports into our Chief Operations and Strategy Officer who runs a 30 person team known as the Strategic Infrastructure (SI) team. It's a very exciting time to be a part of this organization as we are helping to set the foundation for the future of our company.
Your Next Challenge:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop and manage the execution of a competitive total rewards strategy to include compensation, health and welfare benefits, 401k, paid time off programs, and other reward and recognition programs
  • Evaluate market trends and team member feedback to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits
  • Manage benefit vendors and evaluate current plan performance and costs, including risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to steering committee and leadership
  • Develop and deliver benefits training and communications for all team members
  • Manage the annual benefit renewals including advising on recommended plan improvements, implementation of new benefit carriers, employee communication, and data auditing while working closely with benefit brokers
  • Act as point of contact for all benefits inquiries from team members or vendors
  • Administer all leave of absence programs and accommodations requests including policies, processes, and communications, in concert with third-party leave administrator and payroll team
  • Manage the compensation program to include organizational compensation philosophy, salary planning, salary adjustments, internal equity reviews, and promotions
  • Manage salary structure ranges based on market data and compensation philosophy
  • Provide guidance on compensation matters including role benchmarking, FLSA status, job leveling
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable country, state, and local laws and regulations
What You'll Need:
  • 7 years of People Partner, HR Manager, HR Program Manager or similar role
  • A passion for Benefits, Leaves and Compensation administration
  • Desire/ability to work in the office 4-5 days/week
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong understanding of human resources principles and functions
  • Strong values with a clear inner core of purpose-driven leadership
  • Working knowledge of the critical components of a successful HR department including employment law, performance management, resolving conflict, having difficult conversations, employee engagement, training, maintaining employee files
  • Clear, strong, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Experience with compensation and wage structure
  • Understanding of employee classifications
  • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism
