A leading outpatient Healthcare Provider is hiring a PACU Registered Nurse for our 2359 Overnight Shifts. These shifts require very specific work times, and may include a work shift of up to 12 hours. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, able to provide great patient care, and have demonstrated critical thinking skills.

JOB SUMMARY: Admits the patient to the perioperative setting and develops a plan of care for the patient based on pre-operative or post-operative and implements a plan of care as appropriate. Essential Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Compliance Program:

• Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted compliance program
• Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures

Performance-Improvement Plan:

• Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care
• Participates in data collection activities
• Helps implement new procedures when they are developed

Safety/Risk-Management Program:

• Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities
• Reports any observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and non-compliance with policy and procedure to the safety officer or other designated person

Professional Competence:

• Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
• Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff
• Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities
• Participates in education and teaching programs in the facility for employees and physicians on topics of special interest and topics pertinent to outpatient surgery
• Welcomes suggestions and recommendations
• Assists with orientation and training or new personnel and acts as a resource person for topics/problems related to patient care
• Ensures orientation to new equipment

Job Responsibilities:

• Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
• Uses pre-operative time out and check list appropriately
• Reports untoward events or near misses as soon as practicably possible
• Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel
• Organizes nursing activities efficiently
• Considers staff abilities when delegating activities
• Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
• Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
• Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area
• Maintains order and cleanliness of admission and recovery area
• Performs and documents appropriate admission assessment of patient
• Follows facility policy and assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient upon admission

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Abilities:

• Minimum of at least 1 year RN work experience
• Current RN California license
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• Ability to work in all Centers in Monterey and Salinas
• Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians and patients
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems
• Leadership qualities, with strong ethical and moral character references
• High-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills
