What’s a Roofer/Laborer do at Springfield?

You’ll become a master of flat and low-sloped commercial roofs. We steer clear of those super steep slopes and shingles. Ever heard of hot air welding? It’s cool, not literally though. Get ready to take the wheel and drive trucks, maneuver trailers, and operate a wide array of machinery that makes our roofing magic happen. While we might not be competing in the World’s Strongest Man competition, you’ll need some muscle power. Expect to lift, carry, and move materials weighing over 50 pounds. But it’s not all about upper body strength – you’ll be paying homage to Mother Nature, too, bending and kneeling, hoping she’ll bless us with blue skies and tan lines.

• Let’s Talk Heights.

It’s shocking, but to work on roofs...one must actually climb onto roofs. This isn’t a job for those who prefer to have their feet firmly on the ground. So, if the idea of being 20 to 40 feet up in the air gives you more butterflies than a first date, you might want to consider a career in carpeting instead.

• The Infamous 10-Panel Pre-Employment Awards Ceremony.

Here’s a shoutout to the folks in the back: WE. DRUG. TEST. We understand that “the pot” and “the weeds” are as legal as socks and Crocs, but if your idea of a good night involves any of that, don’t bother applying. We’re not judging at all. But save us the drama and yourself the embarrassment.

• Hide and Seek Challenge.

We all have our moments – I once “borrowed” a library book for an extended three-year vacation. But here’s the deal: spill the beans about any felonies you have. We do background checks, so we’re going to find out anyway. It won’t be cool like Liam Neeson does in all his movies. It’ll be more like that awkward uncle who mentions your past at family dinners.

• Clean Driver’s License.

A valid driver’s license with a clean(ish) driving record. Eventually, you might get to drive one of our fancy company vehicles (Spoiler alert: it’s a Ford). We’re not asking that you drive like your grandma, but we also don’t want you driving like you stole it. 90 mph in a 55 zone ain’t cool, man.

• The Drama of Mother Nature.

Let’s face it, mother nature can be a real mother...you know. And northern Michigan is about as unpredictable as a reality TV show finale. Yes, there will be days so cold you’ll question your life choices. But then there are those days – those perfect, postcard-worthy Michigan days – that make all the frostbite and sunburn almost worth it. Almost.

• Location: We service anywhere from the great streets of Lansing all the way to the Mackinac Bridge
• Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM - there might be an occasional Saturday with notice
• Travel: Some overnight travel for out-of-town jobs. But we pay lodging, per diem, and out of town bonuses.
• On-Call Schedule: 8-week rotation for weekend service calls.
