Bluegrass Community Health Center has renovated a school bus into a mobile health clinic and is hiring a Mobile Clinic Driver/Health Service Clerk. This position will be responsible for driving this mobile clinic (School Bus) to different locations , where they will help set up and then will take on the health service clerk role of scheduling patients, checking patients in and out, checking insurance, and more. There will not be any passengers transported on the mobile clinic. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience driving a full-size school bus, while the health service clerk job duties can be on the job training.

The Mobile Clinic Driver-Health Service Clerk is responsible for providing excellent service to patients and others who interact with the health center and our mobile clinic. This position will operate a mobile medical clinic over designated routes in accordance with time schedules; provide safe and efficient transportation of the mobile clinic to and from clinic sites and events; perform daily inspections and operator maintenance of vehicle; assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and outreach materials. This position will perform health service clerk duties such as serving as a clinic receptionist, handling patient registration and check-out, and completing other administrative duties to ensure successful operation of the clinic.

The Mobile Clinic Driver-Heath Service Clerk will:

  • Drive a mobile clinic (School Bus) on designated routes in accordance with specified time schedules and in accordance with regulations and laws related to transportation in the State following specified schedules. This portion of the position will represent about 20% of the overall job duties.
  • Maintain mobile clinic in a safe operating condition through prescribed daily vehicle inspections and driver maintenance including cleaning windows, mirrors and bus interior; check and maintain fuel, oil and water levels; check brakes, brake lights and doors; report mechanical defects and malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and outreach material; set up outreach booths, display outreach material at events, etc.
  • Observe applicable local, State and federal policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Fuel and clean exterior and interior of mobile clinic including picking up debris, sweeping and mopping floor, wiping upholstery and cleaning headlights.
  • Maintain records concerning vehicle maintenance, miles driven, and other related matters.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients according to Patient Centered Medical Home principles and others who interact with health center. About 80% of the job duties for this position will be spent working on Health Service Clerk duties.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to scheduling rules. Obtain and enter patient information accurately at time of appointment into Electronic Medical Records.
  • Checks insurance eligibility
  • Understands insurance processing
  • Answer/transfer calls promptly and in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient personal, financial, and health records.
  • Cleans waiting room and waiting room bathroom facilities at designated intervals and as needed.
  • Accurately enters and verifies patient information.
  • Patient check-in and check-out
  • Interacts with patients in a respectful and culturally competent manner.
  • Will attend Outreach Events or Health Fairs as scheduled by Supervisor
  • Collects co-pays, sliding fee discount payment, and past due balances
  • Maintain up to date Flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Rate of Pay:

$15.00-$22.50 DOE
