Our Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in various ways, helping with good classroom management, and a willingness to be flexible when needed. We are looking for a staff member with a nurturing heart and a positive attitude. The right candidate for this position will understand the importance of learning through play as it relates to child development. Our Preschool takes a Piaget-inspired approach to education which incorporates imaginative, pretending and dramatic play. The Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher will report to the Infant/Toddler Coordinator and ultimately the Director.

The hours are 1:00am - 6:00pm (but hours can be adjusted to be a few more or a few less)

Pay is negotiable depending on experience and credentials.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Supports the work of the Director and Infant/Toddler Coordinator
• Assists the Lead Teacher with daily classroom tasks at the discretion of the Lead
• Oversees the growth and development of the class: Help implement their daily routine of bottles, feeding, naps, diapers; as well as music, art, and learning through play
• Engages in active care & play with children; this will often mean getting down on the floor to interact with them
• Encourages curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
• Works positively alongside other Infant/Toddler Teachers
• Maintains open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child’s family
• Communicates with families as directed by the Lead and sends updates via our Brightwheel app.
• Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible

Education and Experience:

An associates degree in education or related field preferred but not required. If no degree is held, experience working with infants/toddlers or preschool children is a must.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
